conversion

I see lots oh Handi owners converting 357 to 357 max.  Friends buy tc barrels in 357 max also.  I did a search here and found no conversions of 357mag to max.  Is the cartridge length an issue in the 1894 and what about pressure?  Just courious, Thanks guys

I looked into this myself a couple years ago. Cartridge lenght won't work with the .357.
. You could maybe do it on a 336 .30-30 but requireing a rebarrel and new parts the cost would be high.

Thanks BNBOB.   Sort of figured as much.  I would just get a good old 35 rem if that was the case.  I understand the 357 max recoil in minimal and the balistics are near the 35rem.   thanks again,  Gary

should be able to on a 92 rossi. They do them in 454 which is the same lenght. Ive got a 44 marlin coverted to 475 linebaugh so it probably could be done there too. Problem is finding someone to do it. Rob Applegate did mine and said hed never do another. it was just to much work.

Thanks Lloyd, generally too much work equates to too much moola also.  It was just a thought.  Always looking for some thing a littel different.  I have not owned a Puma and a 454 may be what I could have fun with.  I have loss of 45 Colt loading gear and have always enjoyed that caliber.  Guys give Puma good marks especially after they get slicked up a might.  Thanks for your thoughts, Gary

    My understanding is that you can buy .357 mag ammo, from places like Buffalo Bore and Garrett, that are loaded way up, with ballistics that closely approach the standard .35 Remington, for use in the Marlin 1894 rifles.   Of course, the serounds are expensive, but if you just use them to sight in and hunt, then it would be a much better way to go than trying to convert a Marlin to .357 Max.

 Just a thought.
