Millennium Pro SS, feedback wanted.

For those that own this gun I'm considering getting one for concealed carry and would like feedback on the reliability, pro's and con's of this model.

Before I get into MHO, many will bash this little gun, but not me!

I have the older (generation 1) Millennium PT145 and she has always worked perfectly for me.  She is by no means a tack driver but good enough for CQC.  I use the PT145 as a primary carry weapon.

However mine has a different trigger than the one you are looking at.  My trigger is a DAO and if I am not mistaken the Milli Pro has a DA/SA trigger.

My other carry is an xD in .45.  (I like .45)

Thanks for the feedback.  I don't know anyone who has this model so I appreciate the info. There is a sale on them at our local Cabela's starting Thursday so I'll be going after work to look at it.  This will be my first carry gun so I'm looking for one that is reliable and within my budget.

I have the Millenium  PT140 Pro SS, and I really like the gun. I compared features among many pistols before I decide to buy this one. The things that I was looking for were compact size, .40 S&W, stainless and polymer construction, safety features, and a decent trigger pull. This pistol has them all and I get excellent accuracy from this pistol. I read that many people complained about the trigger pull, but both of mine are great. Yes, I liked mine so well that I bought another exactly like it for my wife. In all fairness, I do have one concern. I have had a few rounds that I reloaded that would not go off in my Taurus. These same rounds fired just fine in my Beretta 96. I searched a bit and found where someone had posted that you should only shoot Federal ammunition in these pistols because of a weak firing pin spring. I bought me some Federal primers and have fired over 500 reloads without a problem. My CC load is factory Federal Classic 155 grain jacketed hollow points. I will keep the pistols and watch for an upgrade on the spring issue.

I've got one in 9mm, and if I had it to do over again, I would not buy it.  Twice now, in less than 1000 rounds, the recoil spring has partially come out the front of the slide, jamming the gun up BAAAAD.

I once thought highly of the gun, but now I'm planning on trading it in.

I have the same problem; getting them to bust a Winchester primer is pretty iffy. Ya have to hit some 5-6 times to get 'em to go off! OTOH, you can mix Win. and Fed. to practice failure drills.

I had one in 40cal. I put 200 rounds through it and it broke. I sent it back to Taurus and it took 9 weeks to get it back. After i got it back I went to the range and after 45 rounds it broke again...the recoil spring went flying past my head and the barrel jammed into the slide. I contact Taurus and they said...send it back. It took another 11 weeks to get it back. As soon as I got it I put it on consignment and it sold. I will never own a Taurus again. Maybe I got a bad one but for a first time Taurus buyer I was not impressed.

I have the older PT145 also.  A used Mil Pro PT145 at a local shop also has the DAO trigger.  If I'm not mistaken, this let's you drop the firing pin/striker, or dry-fire, without having to rack the slide to cock it again.

Exactly right.

    I just got done talking to one of Taurus' special needs outreach/customer service people  about the light strikes, and the first thing he did was argue with me and start jabbering about SAAMI this, SAAMI that.(I don't think he even knows what SAAMI DOES) I finally told him, "Look, I didn't call to argue about the POS, I just want a new spring." He finally shut up about it, but the spring's gonna cost me $2. I guess I shoulda asked about shipping. He offered to let me ship it to them, but I'd rather not wait until this POS is an antique to get it back and find out they put it back together wrong, forgot some parts, or did something stupid like putting rifle sights on it.

    Anyone know how to disassemble the slide on this thing?

I have a Millennium PT745 that I just sent to Taurus for warranty service.  The pistol will not fire.  The firing pin lightly strikes the primer and is off center.  I have taken the striker/firing pin assembly apart for cleaning and reassembled it.  The results were the same.  I hope Taurus can make it right.  In any event I will not buy another Taurus product.  The next time I want a pistol for compact carry I will consider S&W, Springfield Armory, or Kahr.  Cheap guns are a big disappointment and a waste of money.  You get what you pay for.

bought a pt140 pro and it will flat lay em down. it will put ten in your chest at 10 to 15 yds easy and fast...

OK, I'm going to correct myself here after further study.  My first gen Mill (not Pro) has the DAO trigger.  Very heavy, but I'm becoming okay with that in a strictly carry gun.  This is not a target piece, but a nicely compact 10-round .45!!  I can keep 10 shots well inside a dinner plate at 10 yards, which is more than enough.  Functioning flawlessly.  The newer Mill PRO has a pretty decent single action trigger which resets every time the slide racks.  The "second strike capability" is more like the DA on my Mill, but you'll never use it (or see it) unless a round doesn't go bang on the first try (or you're dry-firing).  When the slide goes back, you are shooting single action on a newer Pro.

My wife has the Mil Pro, she likes it.  It goes bang every time, carries 10 .45 ACP and conceals well.  She's happy,  that makes me happy!

I got my Millennium PT745 back from Taurus warranty service four months later.  They replaced the barrel and firing pin and spring assembly.  It still does not fire reliably.  I will be trading it in for something better.  When I do this I will inform the dealer of its troubles so the next sucker will not be so dissapointed.  Maybe I should do everybody a favor by throwing it in the river.  I will never buy another Taurus product.

Sometime back, early spring the wife purchased a Millenium in 40cal, it was stainless etc. I fired the pistol several times but it would not keep the clip in place, kept droping out and that would JAM the pistol. The pistol was 3 days old at that point. We tried several different brands of ammo as well, No Dice! It still kept wanting to JAM and clip would not stay locked into proper prosition.

We took it back to the dealer and he said they would fix that issue! OK, picked the pistol up the very next week and went to the inside gun range. Loaded the magazine and proceeded to fire rounds, after the second round the gun JAMMED once again and the clip dropped down. Well, that pistol went to the trading block and never seen again. I found out later that Taurus had a big batch of those pistols with various issues. We went to the GLOCK after that and no problems whatsoever firing all brands of ammo.

I have carried a PT111 for 2 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about it.  It has performed flawlessly with cheap steel case FMJ ammo and with Gold Dot ammo.  So far I would trust it with my security.  It is a bit wide for a concealed carry pistol, but I do like the 12+1 capability.

Beware.  Taurus revolvers may be good but their auto pistols are junk.  My Millennium PT745 PRO is back for another round of its lifetime warranty service.  Who's lifetime, theirs or mine?  Each shot requires that I pull the trigger multiple times for firing.  If you can somehow chamber a cartridge in a Highpoint it will reliably fire.  My Taurus will not even do that.  If it does not work when it returns I will destroy it rather than trading it in on another purchase.  I don't consider it ethical to put my problem on some unsuspecting person.
