different color
« on: March 01, 2009, 03:10:35 AM »
I get a little tired at times of making knives in tones of brown, grey and black; I"m always looking for different materials to use on handles. That's why I started making my own handle scales out of burlap, denim, canvas etc.  I stumbled across Tom Howe's site showing polymer clay scales in a huge variety of patterns and decided to try these.  They're not the most conservative nor the most colorful of what he offers. I might have to try some of his stuff with some stainless damascus one of these days.  The knife itself is my snake skinner in 3/32 inch D-2.  Has a four inch blade.

That looks pretty good. How about red or black with in something like that?

http://www.knifescales.com/.  Check the Polymer Clay scales/blocks.  More colors than you can shake a stick at. ;D
