The concept of barrel bedding is not new. I believe it originated with the 1000 yard target shooters.. The 10-22 is amazing, and Bill Ruger is a genius. He designed a light sporter 22 that is reasonably accurate and reasonably priced. He also made it readily alterable to almost any sane(and some not so sane) configurations, from silenced sniper to rapid fire gamesman to precision target master. It the only weapon I know besides the 1911 Colt that is often purcased for the purpose of CHANGING IT!! In any case, bed to support the barrel and front ring(if you wish). I usually support the rear of the action just enough to avoid flex. It helps make the action feel more 'solid' as it cycles. As to correcting you Traveler never.. there are 10/22 receivers out there that are threaded and there are receivers out there made from stainless steel.. I would still bet they'd do better barrel bedded but I'd never correct you..merely giving my opinion. We're all still here to learn.. I learn something on these posts every day... Good luck to all..
