Tikka scope mount
« on: March 04, 2009, 04:50:20 AM »
I have heard so many bad things about the Tikka factory rings that I am thinking about replacing them.  I have a Tikka 695 in 7mm mag.  I emailed TikkaPrecision and they recomended WEAV 48504 61M TOP MOUNT BASE MATTE and then purchase scope rings that fit a weaver mount.  Has anyone done this?  Is this the best solution?  Are there any other better weaver scope rails that I can use?  I have seen pictures of them with a tactical rail.

Here is a thread that has info on Tikka mounts ... http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,152430.0.html ... with pictures ...

Personal opinion is with the Talley and Dednutz choices, why do anything else? Just an opinion though.

I have been using Warnes on both my Sakos and Tikkas and they flat out work.
a bit of a pain to install, but no biggie

I just got a set of Talleys and installed on my 308 Tikka
very clean and easy, I like em...

one thing I have came across is that they run a bit on the tall size:

for example, the med is .5" from top of the receiver to the bottom of the scope rail which is what most companies (warne for example) call a high
so, with the med I was able to put a 56mm objective Weaver Classic Extreme illuminated 30mm scope and have an 1/8" clearance between bell and barrel

Upon poncaguys recommendation I ordered & installed a DedNutz scope mount on my Tikka Varment .308. This is the 30mm & I mounted a Wonders Optics 4-14X50. The DedNutz is a one piece mount & is as well built as any I've ever seen. The Warne mount is still on my Tikka Varment .223. They work well also.
AMERICA........Love it or leave it!

Does the Weaver arrangement mentioned in the initial post of this thread work?
