Advice please
« on: March 04, 2009, 06:28:44 AM »
Should I or shouldn't I?  I was thinking of ordering a 26" stainless Huntsman barrel for my Handi soon.  I was reading some of the other posts and it got me wondering if I should wait and see if an improved barrel is developed and marketed?  What would you do?  I would like to use it during the October 2009 season.
Thanks!
Ron

Anybody?  I was going to include black powder barrel with my order tomorrow (ordering a 30-30 barrel).  Any advice would be appreciated .

Ron,

I would say, if you want one, you better get it now while you still can. There is no guarantee that they will ever make another muzzleloader. If you want a carrierless breech plug, they are now available.

You could always sell the barrel later if they do come out with a new one. If they don't come out with a new one, you will be happy you got yours while you still could.

Thanks Busta.  Does H&R have the carrierless breech plug, or do I purchase them someplace else? Ron

Sorry Ron, after re-reading my post I can see where I didn't give you all the information. No, not H&R, but they can be had at MU, the link and # that whitetailmaniac gave you.

Thanks guys.  I think I will include a huntsman barrel with my order for a 30-30 barrel.  I called Illion several times over the last few days to get info, but was on hold too long.  Thanks again - Ron

That's a good decision, the improved Huntsman barrel won't be available this year.  :-\

Good Luck.

I ordered a Huntsman barrell for my pardner 12 gauge back in October. Still haven't received it. According to customer service the muzzleloader barrels are on back order ???

Ilion has lots of barrels, but no ramrods for them, they should be getting them built shortly.
