I know the new ADLs sold at Walmart will fit the CDL stock with no issues.  Here's mine.

As far as I know all the 700 actions are the same the only problem you run into is ADL and BDL.  ADL had a blind mag and BDL you can dump Ctgs out the bottom of the action.  But an ADL can be made into a BDL with a trigger guard and a hinged floor plate.  And not sure but I think the follower spring is different too but do not hold me to that.
If you have a short action M700 sps and want to stick it in fancy wood the BDL wood will work.  just match barrel contour.  Don't ask how I know but a standard contour barrel looks funny in a Varmint stock.  But talk about free floated.  WOW   :o ;)

Woodduck, that just gives a guy a good excuse to buy a new Krieger, Obermeyer, or Rock, varmint contour barrel.

Swamper: I said it once, but have to say it again - You have that 700 in the picture looking mighty fine.

Winddrift,
As far as I know and I know you did not ask me,  but you would need a trigger guard ( with the catch), the hinged floor plate and possibly the mag spring.
All parts you can get cheap.

Yes, it's easy.  The Mountain Rifle stock's barrel channel is too small, but the BDL & CDL stocks should fit perfectly.  Brownell's even has a video you can view online to see how it's done.  Brownell's and Midway have kits I believe.  Ebay or Gunbroker is a good source for stocks & used metal parts.  My stock came from Gunbroker and the metal parts came from Brownell's.  I sold my ADL stock and triggerguard on ebay to recover some of the cost.
