150gr Sierra Gameking BTSP + Varget = Loads?
« on: March 04, 2009, 09:43:07 PM »
Hey folks, I am starting reloading and finally got all my equipment and stuff together. I ordered a Lyman 49th edition manual and....? No loads for varget and a 150gr BTSP. I am looking for a load for the .308 Win. Anybody have one and could post min and max loads? I am trying to develop a good deer load so it definitely doesn't have to be a maximum loading. Thanks!

For my 308, which is a Rem SPS tactical, I use the Sierra 150 gr SPT.  My load is Varget, about 44-45 grains, R-P case, WLR.  BTW, this same load works well and to the same POI with the Nosler 150 BTs.  If you have a Nosler book, its their recommended load for 150 gr and Varget.  Also, this same exact load worked very well with a Savage 16 as well.  I killed 2 deer with it this year, both bang flops.  Good load, very accurate, and kills great.
As always, your gun will take some fine tuning with this load.

Good Luck,

So nosler BT bullet data is compatible with the Sierra BTSP in the same grain weight?
