where does it say it is legal?  it more looks to me like he wasnt sane enough to stand trial, so he will be in a mental institution.  Kind of like in the usa when found not guilty by reason of insanity.  Does that make the crime legal?  ummm no.  A very misleading subject line. I would ask if the bus was filled with other passengers why didnt someone stop him?  In the usa someone would have popped him. Thank god for socialist countries where guns cant be carried.

I read it twice looking for where Canada made the pronouncement that beheadings were legal.  I couldn't find it.  I wasn't there for the competency hearing and I didn't interview the defendant.  As such I don't feel qualified to judge someone who has done those things.

According to this line of thought, assassinating the President of the United States would be legal because John Hinckley Jr. was judged insane.  Of course Hinckley is still in custody 27 years later...

This perp needed to be dumped sitting right there on the bus and his carcass left along side the road...It's ok to kill and maim another human without significant consequences? (and no an "institution is not significant enough)
Subject line was not misleading, mental competancy is highly subjective and allowing such behavior encourages others to act out without being responsible for their actions. How could you read about the victims family and think this was in any way just?

You have to feel for this victim's family, no murder is acceptable, but to have a loved one attacked so barbarically would be additional pain ! No way should this perp be set free, ever, that train has left the station! IMHO
