Hi guys,

I initially posted a rather long letter trying to describe why I think the old DW isn't ever coming back. Guess I was in one of those moods

I deleted that letter and have this to offer. Everyone here knows the old DW isn't coming back. If CZ ever started making revolvers again, no matter how precise they are, they will never have IMHO the rich history or the intrinsic value the earlier guns enjoy. Everyone who owns a DW whether it's a Monson, Palmer, or Norwich knows they have a piece of history, and they know they have a unique and well crafted firearm that will not let them down.

That's all I really wanted to say.

I would tend to agree with you. It's shame, but you have to look at the good side...all your D.W.s are now more valuable to you!

I only have three, and one (a SuperMag) may not be a keeper if DW can not fix it...oh well.

I really liked the old Dan Wesson revolvers. I also think it's a real shame that CZ seems to have discontinued them and has no intention of offering them again in the future. In the past, when visiting the CZ website, I'd always make sure to click the Dan Wesson link hoping that I'd see a new release of a revolver or two. But it's just never happened - only autos. Very disappointing.

Welcome to forum suba. Would be nice if you posted some pictures of your Dan Wesson Revolvers. You too vonfatman.

I like CZ's ,, But Dan Wesson and CZ, should never be in the same sentence. Just why did they buy the name to make 1911's, Dan Wesson will always be know to us knowledgeable folks as revolvers. period.

Hey guys (!) Nice pictures. I'm not a very good photographer, but here's my 45 Colt. I also have an 8" barrel assembly that's never been shot. In fact, this gun has less than 20 or 30 rounds through it. btw, I'm not actually sure how to post a pic. I clicked on the additional options, then attached a picture from my desktop, so well see if it works. If not, maybe someone can help me out.

Hey Bob, if I ever decide to sell I'll let you know. I've never seen a sixgun that's this tight. There's no cylinder side play when closed, yet when you open the crane it spins like it's on ball bearings. I just got lucky buying this gun. Last year a guy in my state sent a email out to everyone on DW Yahoo saying he was selling off his collection. I sent him an email immediately because I was at my computer when the email came in. I told him I'll buy the Colt and I'll be there in two hours, then I hoped in my truck for the hundred mile trip.

When I got there he said a guy just called saying he would buy his entire collection which consisted of six or eight unfired or barely fired guns. When the seller told the guy he could have them all but the Colt because someone already bought it, the guy said I got the pick of the litter.

I also got the original box that's pristine, and of course the tool, gauge, lock, original paperwork, receipt and the 8" barrel assembly. I keep this gun oiled and in a airtight gun case with desiccant. I really don't intend to shoot it again. Actually I've shot it about ten times, and the original owner said he never fired it. Glad you like the gun (!)

btw, the white speck you see on the top of the grip isn't a ding....it was a speck of white dust.

You are gentleman and a scholar! Thanks for keeping me in mind. I have to admit though, if I ever came across such a gun, I'd shoot the heck out of it as I'm a reloader and 45 Colt is my favorite big-bore cartridge.

That Colt's a real prize, I've been lusting after one ever since I bought my son a Ruger Blackhawk in 45 colt and test fired it. I've got the mod 40 in 357 max and have the 6",8", and 10" barrels. The 10" is my most fired barrel, but after firing the 45 with 5"; I put the 6" on mine to shoot with my son and it's a hoot, but I've been watching for DW's in 45 on auctions and gun shows; they're quite rare and fetch a premium. You got a great catch there. I would have to shoot, maybe with cowboy loads if I had it. I reload for my son's. just for an excuse to test loads.

I have to agree with both of you, 45 caliber is great. Nothing wrong with cowboy loads either. The rounds I shot were 360gr True Shot over 15.5 of Lil Gun. The gun hardly moved when fired ( fps probably around 950 ) but you could have scared someone to death by the fireball

I just bought a rarely fired 20 year old FA 454 with a Colt cylinder on Gunbrokers. The picture was taken from the auction so it's not very clear. It's got the old Westinghouse paper micarta grips which are pretty rare. The gun is a jewel. I just sent it off to FA to have the frame stud removed and the hole welded and refinished, plus to check it over and get an action job. Before I sent it off I shot a few of those 360 loads that I shot in my Colt. All I can say is

What do you think about the FA w/o the porting? I have seen one in a local shot with porting and I'm not sure I want a ported gun. Just curious about your opinion.

I initially wished it wasn't ported because I'm not a big fan of porting. I liked everything about the gun except the ports. My plan was to buy the gun and see how it handled with the ports. If I hated it I would send it back to FA and have the barrel cut down to 6 " It shot very well and the 7 1/2" barrel wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be, so I'm keeping it the way it is.

Do I wish it wasn't ported ? From an aesthetic sense yes, but with this gun it's not a negative IMO.

My four S&W snubs are Jelouse..
Just wanted to post a pic + note that most of the compact barrel shrouds have an angeled bottom were mine has the sharp 45 degree angle..

The Obama administration has had the greatest impact on the shooting industry in over 30 years. Production of guns and sales of supplies is at an all time high and stocks for all the gun and ammo companies are steadily climbing, at least until they stick their finger in the works with their legislation; the fear of, which is driving the current sales.

Just so you know - that is not a VH configuration. It is Vent/Standard.
