would pecan wood be considered strong enough to use for a gun stock
dont know alot about wood thanks

Mike,
Pecan is certainly strong enough, however, like Hickory, which it is a virtual duplicate of, it is VERY heavy!

Hey Mike,
I would'nt mind using pecan for a nice set of grips, but I agree it is very heavy for a rifle stock.

so lets see the progress
heavey is good in some cases
some here even put lead in a hard kicking gun
pecan is like hickery.....and that is good for ax/ sledge hammer/ shovel handles

I guess it's a matter of what you are shooting. If it is a range gun then weight doesnt matter, but if you are lugging around the wods, that might be a different situation.
