1/4" Handi
« on: March 07, 2009, 12:46:11 PM »
She did it! Once, but she did it! 3 rounds at 100 yards , standard barrel 1-9 twist 50 gr V-Max , 27 gr BL-C2 Fed cases CCI 400 primers 2.34 oal. Haven't chrono'd it yet but its nice! The problem is it isn't a very consistent load. Generally 3/4 - 1 1/4 inch range but its a start. This rifle has 60 rounds through her so she's not broken in yet. I'm hopeful that I can get her busting an inch for 3 consistently at 100. Given her deep throat I'm planning to go to heavier bullets, the 60-75 grain flying pencils would seem to be the ideal given twist rate and throat depth. Those of you shooting bug holes with the .223 1-9 barrels , what bullets are you shooting?

This is a .17 Handi shooting Midway dog town bullets, I think you need to try some Bergers.  Larry

A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

Try some Sierra 69grainers I've use them in my 24" fluted 223... haven't tested a bunch but initial was under 3/4" just to see how they would work. Then I rechambered it to 225win and am using 75 gr Hornady's in it. Kurt
