Combined Technologies partition gold moly?
« on: March 09, 2009, 01:35:58 PM »
I bought ten boxes of these, 150 grain 308, several years ago when Midway had them for $4.99 a box.  I think they are moly coated as Nosler offered the same bullet moly-free.  They are a dark grey color.  It is not the same as on the ballistic tips.

I soaked them for 2 weeks in moly magic and it didn't phase them.  Didn't even soften the coating.

Is it the standard moly that I have heard so many negatives about?  Do I need to condition a gun just to use them?

Can I go back and forth with these and copper?

SUGGESTIONS?

I will NEVER touch moly again , talk about a royal pain to remove , If you do plan to use a moly coated bullet , barrel prep is a must or you may end up like a friend of mine and firelapping the barrel to remove it .  :o

Me neither BUT that's NOT moly on the CT bullets.

GB is right. I also bought several boxes at a deep discount. I have had great success using them in my 308.  Shot a buck with them last year, great big game performance. Very good deal for a partition and very accurate. If they were on sale again I would buy a large bucket full.
