Q's about new to me Encore .50
« on: March 09, 2009, 03:10:34 PM »
I have a few questions about a new Encore barrell I picked up. It looks like I will have to remove the extractor each time I want to clean it. Are the primers hard to remove without it? Or should I purchase the extractor that tips out of the way? Also, is the conversion to the 25acp primer really nesessary? The person I bought it from said it would make it more accurate.

Thanks, Chris

I have the extractor that swing's over..I still remove it to clean the gun... No real big deal. The 25acp I cant coment on..But I have no trouble getting 1" and under at 100yds without it. A good place to start is about 100gr of 777ffg and a remington cleanbore or 777(dirty) primer and a 250 SST. Drop

I just removed my extractor, don't really need it. If you want an extractor get an Easy Tip.

If you are using 777 the 25 conversion might be of some benefit. If you are going to use BH209 don't change it.

i removed the extractor on my ENCORE because it is useless ,the 209 primer never gets stuck in the breech plug ..also with the  ENCORE i don't know why you would want to add on the 25 acp anouther gimik that u don't need on a QUALITY muzzleloader . but it's your call ..
fast is good - precision is everything
