Taurus CS: GB, this'll make you laugh :-)
« on: March 09, 2009, 03:42:52 PM »
Taurus just launched a new rear adjustable NOVAK sight for the PT 1911.  VERY nice!

So, I ordered one.  $27 to the door, all parts included.

The customer service rep was awesome.  He was very professional, eager to get the information correct, and willing to answer all of my questions.

Well, after only 9 business days, voila!, my new package from taurus arrives.  AMAZING!!!  So far so good.  Soooooo..., I open the package, and there lying in the bottom of the bubble envelope was a brand new, super nice, all parts included, Novak front sight.

Now, I'm very happy to have a new Novak front sight.  It is nicely machined, quite a product, but, it's not what I ordered or paid for.  I'll let you know how round 2 goes.

I guess it remains hard for some people to remember the front or rear of anything, including their own anatomy ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

OK, talked with customer service today.  I spoke with a very nice, but sleepy latino girl who put me on hold for a moment, then came back and told me that a new order had been placed at no charge for the Rear Sight, and that upon its arrival, I should send back the incorrect part.

Stats:

4 Minutes hold
2 minutes more hold
Problem solved??????

We'll see.  I forgot to get the new order number, which I'll call back now and get.

This has been hilarious so far, primarily because we're talking about $27.  If it were $427, it wouldn't be so funny :-\.

I'd request that they send a call tag for the part to be returned, you've spent enough time and money to spend more just to fix Taurus's screw-up.

Ron,

Thought about it, but I'm just going to send it with a postal signature card.  It'll cost me about $2.50 in postage, and save me about $68,000 for the bypass that I'll need if I argue with somebody making $6 per hour.

 ;)

I'd call and ask for a call tag! They'll probably tell ya to enjoy your new front site...but don't make the call until your rear site arrives.

I can't believe they told you to send the sight back in the first place!   :o   On second thought, yes I can... >:(  It woulda been worth a lot to them in good will if they had told you to keep it.   :(  But I'd be darned if I'd pay postage!   >:(

I talked to her also!  The Latino CS rep that is... She's the one who finally entered my order into the computer.  I 'spose she's the same one  :-\  sweet voice...  :)  I think she called me a "dirty old man" in Spanish when I tried to get her extension number...  :-[

I feel your pain.  It took me 2 years to get a rear sight for a PT99AF.  I was told that it was on backorder by a woman that fits the description you offered. Same story from the same person time after time.

After a long period of frustration, I got a new guy on the other end of the phone and he had me a new sight in 3 days.  I doubt if he is still with Taurus.  He mentioned to me what an absolute mess the place was and it was clear that he was on the hunt for a more rewarding position.

I do love the PT99 that I bought in the mid 80's but there is no way I would buy something from them now.  One can't really buy a Taurus with the idea of getting it repaired locally because of the need for their proprietary parts which even smiths have difficulty getting.

Blessings!

Any new news?  Listening to bad stories about Taurus' customer service is better than watching soap operas.  It's also usually easier to predict the outcome of a call to Taurus.

The continuing Saga of, "As the Taurus Goes Round".  First, Taurus parts department is getting much quicker.  I received my new Novak rear sights (plural :))in just over a week.  Now remember, I ordered the "New" Novak adjustable rear sights for my PT 1911 (a truly fabulous pistol, really) about a month ago.  Taurus sent me the front sight instead (nice, but not what was ordered).

My recent shipment included two Novak rear sights, one longer than the other, but neither were adjustable, nor did they include inserts ???

Again, this PT 1911 is a tack driver, and a truly sweet pistol.  All I want for Christmas, or birthday, or quanza, or whatever other occasion that can apply is an adjustable rear sight with all of the parts.  To me, it seems simple enough.

Soooooo....., we'll try again, and I'll keep you posted.

(GB and AtLaw, be nice ;D)

It sounds as though drunken monkeys on crack could do a better job.

This is getting genuinely funny.

You're right, it's so sad it's laughable!   ::)  I really like my 2" Bbl. medium frame 44 Mag. Tracker.  And I'll have fun shooting it this weekend.  But I didn't like the sloppy tolerances and the 4 months I had to wait for one little screw! >:(

One of my club brothers wants a 45 auto.  He saw and liked the looks of the Taurus 1911 style auto.  When he asked me about it, I just couldn't recommend it.   :-\

A "drunken monkey on crack" is a pretty good discription of Taurus CS.    :(

Its got to be pretty bad for me to say anything harsh about something.   :-[

Pretty soon you will have a whole pile of sights, just take the extra and sell them.  Then you will be getting paid to put up with their CS.  Makes sense to me.

I'm considering corbanzo's suggestion.  I figure that about 10 to 15 more calls that I aught to have enough sight parts to build what I want.  I think that I'll try for a few front sights, then file them to my liking.  I could make a display board sort of like a cartridge display entitled "The History of the Taurus Sight", I just don't know if they sell picture frames large enough to hold all of the parts I'll likely receive before they finally get it right.

So the saga continues............. :-\

That would make a nice and interesting display.  You could emphasize it as the "Taurus way of parts ordering".  We used to have a guy who showed up at the gun shows with two sets of deer horns with about 6-8 revolvers that had been blown up from over/under loads (faulty hand loads).  They were either Rugers or Smith and Wessons, with the usual top strap gone or twisted back, and the one or more of the cylinders blown open.  It really got one's attention.

Well, I thought that I'd give this one more stab.  I again spoke with the nice lady in CS, who kindly said, "What?????"

Bottom line, Taurus does not have an adjustable Novak, Heinie, or any other sight for the PT 1911.  She did promise, however, to send me another rear sight with the inserts included this time, not that it matters, because........

I called Novak.  The Novak guy said for me to hang tight, that they will have an aftermarket fully adjustable Taurus dovetail sight out by Summer.

"Like sand through an hour glass, such are the days of my waiting on Taurus CS."  (Yes, one more cheap soap opera ripoff ;D ;D >:()

The gun (PT 1911) is excellent.  Too bad they don't have CS or consistency in manufacture to match.

I'm hoping that it is American for "yea, we're sick of getting pummeled by Taurus customers too, so we'll just make it ourselves and sell it to you for a much higher price" ;)
