It is every where, people are stock piling it. As soon as it hits the shelves it sells. People that use to only buy one or two boxes are now buying a case.

I buy factory ammo for my carry guns only, I reload for all my other hunting handgun and rifles. The reloading supplies are doing the same thing. That new guy that calls himself the President sparked a urgency in gun owners to stock up.

I know I have a few cases of ammo put away, but I started saving long before Dumbo took office.

I have been able to find most of the ammo I wanted on either Auctionarms.com or Gunbrokers.com.  It isn’t cheap, but this has been my only source for finding 357 Sig (and other handgun ammo) at price I was willing to pay. I have seen some .308 on these sites that wasn't priced that bad considering the times and circumstances.  ??? ???

Bad thing, it is not only the factory loaded ammo that is scarce, reloading components for some calibers is getting harder to find, and when you do the price is out of site.

I've purchased many, many, many components.  I'm scared for our sport.

I hope this just one of those things that happens when the Dem's take office and it will blow over soon. Don't remember this happening when we last had a Dem. leader.

Everything is getting hard to come by. Try finding 9mm Luger ammunition of any type...it is an exercise in futility right now. Yesterday I ordered some from Sportsmans Guide, they had the most varied stock left I could find but it was still slim pickings. I need die sets for the 9mm and 30-30 Winchester, they are sold out everywhere. At the local Gander the other day they had exactly 1 type of 9mm ammunition in stock. Rem Express 115 gr +p HP. All other types were sold out. I'm not sure when the demand will slow down and allow manufactures to catch back up???? If you own guns and value your right to use and keep them join the NRA and your local Sportsmans club. If you own guns and voted for Obama, well, you made a big mistake.

Even 22LR is hard to find now.  It seemed like things were cooling off for a while, but It seems to have taken off all over again.  Dick's is the only place that has anything in my neighborhood, but they charge almost twice what everyone else does.  If you want anything, you better get it now!

I was at my local gunshop, putting a gun on layaway ;D Williams Gunsight in Davison MI, The used gun rack was just about bare, People were lined up at the handgun counter 10 deep. The salesman said its been like this for weeks They usually have 200-300 used guns, They were down to about 100. If you aint got it by now you may be too late
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

That's what they want you to think. Funny thing is, even stuff that will never be banned is being bought up and stashed by folk who never even owned a gun before. Heard a guy in the gunshop the other day making a comment about buying an auto-loading shotgun, because the "new" gun ban was gonna make them illegal by the end of April. Of course, the salesman didn't say a word to deny the far fetched rumor as he wrote up the paperwork.
"where'd you get the gun....son?"

No matter, I want to see more gun owners. They will in turn and hopefully become NRA members.

I figure that I need enough for my kids too.  It is going to be a pretty scary place when they are looking for ammo in the future.

Guys - try MidSouth, Sportmans Guide, Cheaper than Dirt and Natchez Shooters Supply.  Most have been advertizing ammo and components.  Also try Cabelas.

Is this a democraptic thing - no, but it probably is the result of it and dealers and retailers are making hay out of it.  Sales of everything have gone nuts since the election and it is basically a scare tactic whether the gov't wants to try doing something about gun ownership or not.

And, let's please not forget that there is a wqr going on in two places, although they are fairly close together, so mil-spec calibers are most likely going to be in shorter supply.

And let's also not forget that if we have to we can steal the wheel weights off politician's cars to make our boolets.

That's probably a pretty accurate guess.

Of course forum users are more devoted than the ordinary gun owner. Of all gun owners, I'd say it's probably closer to 50% who vote dem.

Guys out there running to by ammo, chill out. Your feeding into the very threat of high ammo and scarce findings. It's like the bank run in the 1920 that caused the great depression.

last time I checked, Clinton banned assault rifles, but we all still got ours in the safe and Gander has a dozen on the shelf. No one is coming to get your guns.

As for Republicans, when GW Bush started office 7.62 was $.10 a round (buy a thousand for 89 bucks). Its now double that becasue his oil cronies jacked up energy prices so lead and copper tripled in 8 years. I am a registered Rep, but am not sure hiding behind that party has helpd anyone.

Mikey,
I tried all of the companies you mentioned.  I was looking for 180gr .357 JHC or JHP.  The ONLY thing I found available were a couple of boxes of Nosler Partitions at an exorbitant price (great bullets but too spendy for steel and paper).  EVERYTHING else was backordered.
If I agreed with you then we would both be wrong.

I recently bought a PPK in 32 ACP. Boy was I surprised when I went ammo shopping. NONE to be had, any place. Other than that I am well stocked. No 380 ethier. I do not reload for these calibers and always buy factory ammo, until lately.

Cheesehead-
I have been restoring a couple of autos in 32 ACP handed down to me from my dad. You are right, hard to find caliber!  I scored a couple of boxes two weeks ago and will probably just pick up more whenever I see it on the shelves. I may decide to reload for it if I can find some reasonably priced dies. Its not a caliber I plan to shoot very much though.

Yes this problem seems to be happening just about everywhere.

I was stolling through Wally World yesterday and asked them if they were closing down the gun department.  The clerk who runs that section said no.  He said as soon as they put out a few cases of ammo that comes in its snatched from the shelves with in a couple of hours.  The local gun shop in my area has said that they are seeing the same problem.  They are also having the same issue with primers for reloaders too.

One thing is for sure, despite the higher prices, the next time I catch primers and 22 rimfire in stock, I am loading up...BIG TIME!

We have to remember too the ammo companies have seasonal runs on some of the less popular rounds that are suppost to last all year.

So once it's gone, it's gone for months and months.

I talked to my son last night,  he had just returned from the races in Dallas and had stopped in Cabelas on his way home.  He said they had a fairly good stock of ammo, and at a reasonable price, but there was no .22, .357 Sig or .45 on the shelves. (I almost cried, he said they had Remington 150gr .308 for $12.00 a box, said he had forgot I had a couple of .308s and needed ammo.)

Gentlemen, we may get through this, but I expect to see a shortage of ammo for at least the next three years, perhaps longer if the current prez stays in office.  It is a trickle down thing, as ammo goes, so goes reloading components.  I expect this drought to last for a while, and for prices to go even higher. ???

Yes it's a democrat thing. Barack, Hillary, Nancy and the rest have been after our guns for years. They aren't even bashful about it. I'm not a republican either. I'm an angry white male, swing voter. Give me an alternative to vote for and I'll do it. So far, no decent alternatives.  Now we might as well not have guns, no ammo.
