Just one more example of what is to come in this country. The federal government or more properly stated the folks currently running the federal government are bound and determined to turn this country into a place with no freedoms left. They are working as fast as they can to undo the US Constitution and if folks continue to stand for it in the very near future we'll be no more free than folks were in the Soviet Union or in China today.

The states must stand up to the feds and soon or shooting war with US troops and citizens fighting it out in the streets will be the result. Those in DC sworn to up hold the Constitution are doing all they can to kill it.

GB ,this came out today , I don't know a lot about Norris ,but he has been on a lot of talk shows lately saying the same thing.
Alabama's Governor is furious about this ,he wasn't even notified until the Police in this town had been told these Guys were on their way.

What do you suppose the soldiers that participated in this were thinking. Have the Feds put together a unit that doesn't know or care about the Constitution? I would like to think that the outfits I was in the commander would have refused the order.

Not in my part of the world. I don't know whether the military may have changed young men that have been away, but they were good kids when they left. I know that guard units in Wyoming are Wyomingites first soldiers second. I expect county Sheriffs will be the first points around which law and order and new government will begin to coelesce if all other government fails. I know that is the man I am going to take my marching orders from. Here in the heart land of Wyoming the most common topic of conversation is the sorry condition of the Federal Gvt.

Well at times I feel the same way, about some of them anyway!

The way it works in war is that they try and dehumanize the enemy. Wondering just how they will go about that, maybe telling them we are right wing radical extremist!

Its going to be interesting to see ,these guys would not have done this under General Petraus.
Obama and the Liberals have conveniently caused him to Vanish.

The Army needs to be very careful here ,any Country that ever did this ,was not only defeated but fell into ruin shortly after.
In Rome the Population slaughtered countless Soldiers from the three legions who were sent to do something stupid like this.
And it isnt the men who start these slaughters ,its the Women ,they see one of their Kids getting pushed around and they will go ,Lioness on the ones doing it.

These Soldiers need to be thinking ,if they are doing this there ,who is doing this to there Family where they are from ?
It is still so hard to believe that America is letting this Happen , But it will come to a head some time soon the way Obama is going.

I'm amazed! Federal troops dispatched without the Governors’ request.....and for what damn reason? The guy that did the shooting is dead.

This is nothing more than Obama giving us a taste of what’s to come. He personally had to approve an order to dispatch those troops. Believe it, this guy has all of us in his cross hairs. He's a power hungry punk with all the controls at his finger tips. He will stop at nothing. Our freedoms and the constitution are just bad habits and inconvenient obstacles for him and his posse.

Well cabin i agree yet again. This is a scary thing that we all knew would happen. Obama is out to show what he can do and get away with...he will stop at nothing. Its not like the guy is going to come back from the dead to kill more. There is no more situation anymore. Granit theres a lot of sad families there but the threat is no more. It was absolutly not needed. I wonder how many people under the OBAMA spell think "o well its for the best he knows what he is doing." I agree with half of there thinking that he does know what he is doing. But i dont think its for the best. Well it may be for the best.....whats best for him. This could very well have been handled by local police.

I live about 15 miles from Samson, Alabama. Had friends involved in this. Was sitting drinking coffee with a buddy when he got a phone call that his brother might have been a victim (luckily, he wasn't). The feelings toward Fort Rucker and the MP's who helped are totally different down here. There are two petitions I know of going around being signed. One commending Fort Rucker for the help, the other asking Obama not to overly punish those who, in a time of great crisis, helped.
I know the dangers of this action. I understand posse comitatus. I realize that the Army jumping in to help was wrong. I also know how totally overwhelmed the local LEO's were. More murders in one day than the last 7 years totaled. I know the very, very close relationship between the people in this area and Fort Rucker. I fully understand why the brass at Rucker did what they did.
This WAS NOT an action by the Army trying to take over local business. It was, ill timed poorly planned and hastily done, a sincere effort to help in a horrible situation.
Everyone, local LEO's and the Army, needs to learn from this.
But this is not an example of Obama trying to take over, and no one, especially the soldiers who were trying to help, needs to be burned at the stake.

I saw/heard it on the news. A local sheriff called for help cause he was overwhelmed and really did not know what was up, because there was so much kaos. He said he called so the troops could relieve his guys doing traffic duty so they could help with the murders.

You're exactly right, and that is exactly what happened.
The local commander tried to help people who he knew as friends and neighbors. In hindsight, it was a very serious breach of command authority.
Around here the relationship between community and Ft. Rucker is a very, very close one. Almost exactly 2 years ago there was a series of tornadoes that blew thru here and devastated the community. The base commander, same one as now, reached out (with Presidential writ) and helped this community thru the destruction of a high school, dozens of homes, and the deaths of many people. Not the first time. We all view Ft. Rucker as a great asset to out lives. The soldiers and commanders there are friends and neighbors. We have breakfast with them at the local cafe's. We go to church with them and their families. Just because they are army, and Obama is now the commander-in-chief, doesn't automatically make them the enemy.
Obama may, probably will, try one day and use the Army as his own "special" force. But if you talk candidly to the folks at Rucker, it won't be with their help.
My greatest fear thru all of this is that the present base commander will be replaced with an Obamamite.

I just thought it was an interesting quote from Jefferson. But as we know, Jefferson was a huge proponent of states rights to ensure a small federal government. This being the case, he likely felt that it would be each states responsibility to have their own militias to provide security. This would negate the need for a standing federal army unless we were in fact at war with a foreign entity. Now you can see the connection to the 2nd amendment and its reference to militias, perhaps.

Not sure but seems likely this is what was going through his mind when he made that statement.

Their goal was to protect the public from an army and federal govt taking over . I don't believe that they considered the army helping in a desperate time . The S F earthquake is an example , the army was used , the post office moved unstamped mail and there were other violations of law in an effort to help those in need . Communication was cut off , several men put human life and safety before their careers .
Did the soilders in AL take over or follow orders from local LE ? That in itself will tell the intent . The American military goes all over the world to help in crisis , the calvery saved many a western settler if the movies are true .

Yes the constitution is clearly being mistreated. Jefferson saw this happening back then and knew people would continue to challenge the principal foundations. Here’s what he said specifically on this point:

"On every question of construction, carry ourselves back to the
time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit
manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning
may be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform
to the probable one in which it was passed." --Thomas Jefferson
to William Johnson, 1823

Great foresight on his part. This is one of those statements when Jefferson was talking to us today! This words were not just meant for his time. He was truley talking to those that come after he is long gone. This is the tragedy we suffer from. We don't listen to these great men speaking to us from the grave. Their spirit is alive and well and shouting to us all. We are failing to listen.

We can sit around and quote this and that but, the fact of the matter is it happened and not one soldier said I will not. When the order is given by those who are running our government "our" troops will execute the orders no questions asked. A few may resist but they will be delt with in the," you are either with us or against us" matter. As much as I would like to blame it all on KING OBAMA, we cannot. This is as GB said, the people running our government, not just one puppet.
