I've shot traditional bows since 1950 or so, and I've seen lots of things come and go. I believe the carbon arrows are here to stay, due to their toughness and consistency for straightness. Aluminum also has proven to be consistently straight and fairly tough, but prone to bend with a bad shot either when shooting 3D or hunting. I've killed animals with carbon and aluminum--bear, deer, hogs and varmits. But, like you, my favorite arrow material has always been wood, whether cedar, ash, or other woods, or combinations of them. There is something about working up a dozen wooden arrows with your own hand and then using them to kill game. I have taken lots of big big game with wood over the years, including elk, buffalo, lots of deer, and small game and varmits. Give me the smell of a broken cedar any day over a banged-up aluminum or carbon arrow! I like 'em!
