Thursday, March 12, 2009, good morning from Montana!
« on: March 12, 2009, 07:33:39 AM »
Good Morning Montanan, dpe, Southpaw, Forster, MT_Sourdough, Atlaw, pab1, newstart2k, Skunk, kitchawan kid, lurker, CJ, Bilmac, thxmrgarand, Syncerus, Mcwoodduck, Brennemanj83!

What a beautiful day today.  27 degrees and bright sunny skies.

I have 2 Martini's chambered in 17 Hornady MACH 2.  Awesome cartridge, but I think it is dying.  I am going to for sure rechamber one rifle to 17 HMR.  I am thinking about doing the other in a 17 centerfire either the Hornet or Bee.

Have any of you guys worked with the 17 Hornet or 17 Bee? Comments?

Good Afternoon Double D,

Thank you kindly for including me on your good morning list. Our temps in NE Wisconsin are around 5 degrees, but there is not a cloud in the sky. It's really nice outside, maybe a little chilly though with the wind. I'd like to have some form of the .17 centerfire. GrayBeard has me pretty convinced that the 17 Remington Fireball might be my ticket.

Went to town to mail my mothers Tax return .....
Told the wife , Jack ( the wonder Airedale ) and I were heading for town and I was  taking a rifle with and not to expect me home shortly .
It was the first day in a week that the thermometor  was showing a plus number . On the way home we decided to take the "long way" home . Up the road 2 miles from my turn off is a "sweet spot ". It  is always the last of the season and the first of the season spot for Richardson Ground squirrels . the Neighbor had just finished hauling a barley contract out from there . Naturally there was a bit of spillage .. Gopher was out helping clean up the "mess" when I happened along . Sorry , no pictures , but Jack was one happy Airedale to be out "head crunching" his first gopher of the season . Me too . I did grab the end of the tail before Jack disposed of the remains .... Was a tug -of -war  with me loosing .

Man I hope not, I converted a 10/22 to mach 2 with a barrel and a heavier bolt, it shoots lights out at 100 yards.

Is there something you can put your hands on that makes you think that wayor is it a gut feeling?

I know the price is too high but I do love the performance!

Just a gut feeling.  No one is selling any guns in the Chambering.  Ruger could never make it work inthe 10-22.  Man if they had, the cartridge would have lit the world on fire.

Price isn't bad, a lot better than 17HMR.  Midway has Eley for $4.89 for 50 or 2000 for $174.99($4.38 per 50)  I have 3500 rounds on the shelf but that isn't going to last the season.

Richard, when you come to Montana during Gopher Season some year I'll put a Real Martini in you hand and olive and onion will wait...in fact I not sure you could find one of those olive Martini's in Cut Banks.

 :o  WHAT!!!  Next thing you'll be telling me is y'all don't drink beer!  That's un-American!   ;)

I do prefer onions, but that's really a Gimlet so I take the olives...  :-\

I have always wanted a rifle built on a Martini action but everyone I found musta been made of gold based on what people were asking for them.  Always liked that Cadet...  ;D

Thats a valid point, MY converted 10/22 works great, an occasional magazine stick but I had those with the 22LR. Seems ruger could get the bugs out if'n they wanted to , thats a shame I love my little mach 2
