computer is starting to go bad
« on: March 12, 2009, 04:36:20 PM »
I'm going to talk to you guys as long as my computer hold out. It was doing some crazy stuff  tonight. When I would press any of the keys on the keyboard, it would not respond, I would here a beeping sound coming from the cpu when I would press on of the keys. So I had to reboot the computer so I can type. So who knows what else this machine is going to do for the next few days. So if you guys don't see me on for  for  the next few weeks, I didn't up and leave, I'll probably will talk to you guys on 24th of April, that is when my new computer will be in. But  I'll talk to you guys for the next few days. I just want to use this old sparingly. So hopefully i'll be able to talk to you guys tomarrow.

I will.  I'v had this computer for nine years, its a HP. It has been a good serviable computer, so I got my monies worth out of. I think the either the moniter, or the keyboard is going to go before the cpu.

Try Lava Soft

I think that this is most likely in your case. When the CPU goes, it pretty much does just that with not a whole lot of in between.
Now is a good time to make backups of your documents & pictures or anything else that you want to save for the new machine.

Sheila:
It wasn't just your PC, ours did the exact same thing this evening with the same sounds, like it was trying to load different programs all at the same time.
Did just as you and all worked fine after the reboot.

I think it is a government conspiracy to stop us from posting our dislikes here on GBO! :D ;D

My guess would be if it is making beeping sounds and the cpu will not respond when you are typing, it is the keyboard.  Most likely someone backdoored you a key logger which will crap down the keyboard until you reboot.  Then the software is in place and ready to use.  This simply means someone has accss to everything you type.  Get the puter formatted and  you should be fine.

I did clean out alot of that stuff, the guy that looked at the computer said it is to old and it is wearing out. Last night, the hard drive sounded rough. I just hope it holds up until my new computer comes.

umm cleaning out stuff is not formatting it.  As long as you have irdered a new one I guess you will be ok.  Bototm line is someone key logged you.

If you have done it all...upadtaed windows an all programs that you can.. then run antivirus updated and scanned all files..antispyware updated and run removing all crap..disk clean up...then if it still is screwed up. I would reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows and all programs (MAKE CERTAIN YOU HAVE THE SOFTWARE IN YOUR HANDS BEFORE YOU REFORMAT.)

Then make certain you have ANTIVIRUS installed and updated. Then Update Windows and all programs.

The last thing you do is set up your EMAIL REMEMBER THAT IS THE LAST THING YOU DO!

That is assuming that your computer and all hardware is still good.

If so you should be in good shape at that time.
