G2 Setup question

Hello I am in the process of setting up an initial bullet/load combo for my recently aquired TC G2. The gun is the stainless/ synthetic, which was subsequently converted to walnut to add some weight. The factory weaver base is mounted anlon with B square weaver style rings and a mounted leupold 2-7 ultimate slam scope. I did my own bore sighting/ alignment. Not knowing how this setup will perform prior to range work.  I will start with BH 209 and  Lehigh .452 bullets. My question is which sabot's would be recomended for this combo and any particular primer? Note this is what i would like to shoot, not necessarally what it will. Thanks in advance, Jason

I never owned the G2 before. I would suggest the short black MMP sabot, or the short black harvester sabot. I would think your T/C will have a tight barrel which the Harvester has been better in my T/C guns. I would only use a federal 209A primers and start out with 100grns of BH209 and work up till you find what you like.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I see that Lehigh recommends the harvester sabot. I see the short black model as you noted. There is also the crush rib. Whats the difference? Thanks in advance, Jason

The crush ribbed might work fine. They have been a little inconsistent for me.

Just a word of caution - keep a solid grip on the forearm if you start at 100 grains of powder.

I shoot 90 grains of blackhorn and T/C 250 shockwaves bullets with the black sabot. Very happy with this setup. 90 grains is plenty!

I would clean it really good with Hoppe's, then run some dry patches down the barrel. Then put a coating of your favorite oil on it.
