Guess I got lucky on headspace with my gun.....

With all of the "headspace issues" I hear about with these guns I decided to check mine and see how it was. I really wasnt worried about it since my gun is a great shooter, but I was curious I checked it with a set of feeler gauges and the barrel to frame gap is .005 and the reloaded brass I am shooting sticks out of the barrel right around .004, leaving me with the perfect .001 headspace. I cheacked some factory Hornady ammo and it sat in the barrel pretty much flush leaving me with a headspace of .005. I think I will leave it alone

I haven't had any headspace issues with any of my barrels, be they TC factory barrels or custom.

I wonder where these things get started?

Hard to tell....I guess some guys are just trying to come up with more excuses as to why they cant hit anything I am sure there are some with issues but I dont think the majority of the guns out there have any

If you have to much head space but it will still fire when you reload that case it will have the proper head space if you did not set back the shoulder. If your head space is so great it won`t fire the round you can load some ammo with the bullets set out to where they jam into the rifleing and fire them to make your brass. I like to play with wildcats and custom guns so I fire form alot of brass, NO BIG DEAL.

Yep, I agree. I like to fireform the brass also. It lets you shoot more LOL I just took it to the range a little bit ago. First shot from a clean bore was three inches high, as always, and the rest were dead center with a 3/4 group. Good enough for me!

Headspace issues with Contenders are very real, and date back to the Herrett wildcats when new reloaders didn't understand the importance of setting the headspace of formed cases to match their chambers.  T/C did indeed have some chamber headspace measurements out of spec - two .30 Herrett barrels I had varied by 0.006" from each other.  It didn't help that some die makers cut their FL sizing dies too short either.

Some have reported issues with the .35 Remington too, but this happens with other makes of rifles too, at least occasionally.  The .35 has a small shoulder and it is easy to set it back too far with some die sets.

In all the years I shot silhouette I don't remember anyone complaining of problems with the 7 TCU...
