.22 short
« on: March 15, 2009, 03:07:46 AM »
Can I safely fire  22 short out of a 22 LR rifle and or handgun. I understand feeding may be a problem.
  Just concerned about safety here.

Also can't seem to find any 22 short. Any one know where I might be able to order a brick ?

Short, long, or long rifle. Yeah they will all work but keep in mind that you have to single feed the short for sure and probably the long also.

I buy my shorts from CCI and they are marked CB Short and are a 29gr lead round nose and move @ 710fps. They are very quiet but a good back stop can be important as they like to bounce around.

While I have not seen it I do understand some brands of shorts won't have enough push to get the slug out of a long barrel.  Make sure before you buy a brick that the brand you get will work with the rifle you are using.  Also make sure that you have a clear barrel prior to shot number 2.  I doubt it will blow things up if that low powered, but you may get gas blow back and such and it wouldn't do anything any good.

it is the Aguila Colibri and Super Colibri round that will stick
in the barrel. Anything much over 16 inch barrel and you are
asking for trouble with those 2 rounds. They are loaded in LR cases
not short.
