REFERENCE TO PMS IN THE BIBLE

PMS IN THE BIBLE

A preacher was telling his congregation that anything they could think of, old or new, was discussed somewhere in the Bible. The entirety of the human experience could be found there, without exception.

After the service, the preacher was approached by a woman who said, "Preacher, I don't believe the Bible mentions PMS."

The preacher replied that he was sure it must be there somewhere and that he would look it up.

The following week, after service, the preacher called the woman aside and showed her a passage which read ...

"And Mary rode Joseph's ass all the way to Bethlehem."
When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Speaking as a former poster child for PMS thats a good one!

 ;D on the joke Jonny...

But Oldshooter, I'm a little confused about your statement. How is it that you, a male of the species, was a "poster child for PMS?" I'd like to hear that story. ;)

Well for twelve years(long ago) my life ran the gambit from happiness to being thrown out'a the house and the decision was never one that I knew about let alone had any input on until i showed up and got the news!
Sometimes life was good and sometimes it was not so good! So naturally when the smoked finally cleared and I got my senses restored I reasoned it had to be PMS!

Now dont get me wrong i am not perfect, but it didn't matter how i acted, sometimes it was bliss and sometimes it was a blizzard!

You've seen the Jerry Lewis kid on the poster! Well I figgered there was a poster floating around somewhere with my mug on it and the appropriate tag line underneath it.

Sometimes I get a dumb Bug Oldshooter. :) The poster child thing threw me. Like the Jerry's Kid's posters, they physically have Muscular Dystrophy. It just seemed to me that a Poster Child for PMS would be someone who actually gets PMS and maybe has a quick remedy for it, or is associated with an organization that might be working on a cure for it. But now that you mention it it, I can clearly see that one could be a poster child for PMS in terms of being the victim of someone who has it. ;)

My wife has never been wrong in her life.  When she is, she just says that was not what she meant to say, and takes another stand.

I'm not real sure on how old you guys are, nor how old your wives/galfriends are, but PMS don't hold a candle to Menopause! Specially when the "many pauses" has just started! Then ya got both and generally at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know which is funnier, the original joke or the response.  All are quite good!

Why do women call it PMS?

When my EX- and I were still married, and the mood swings started bad, and then got worse,
I told her maybe she should talk to her doctor about menopause, and see if that was why she was always tired. ( Trying to sugar coat it a little. )
Ohhhhhhh mannnnnnn, was that the wrong thing to say!!!
But a week or so later, she went to the doctor.
He gave her the titles of four books on the  subject of menopause.
Now should this ever happen to any of you, please, for God's sake, don't break out laughing.
If you thought the mood swings were bad?  Oh man...............look out.
I carry a single shot.
'cause it only takes one shot.

Travis:  I sort of doubt that will happen.  Her moods will swing back to the less violent and variable but they won't swing back to where they were before she began suffering from either PMS or Menopause.

Many women experience a great relief when they have passed through Menopause as the mood swings and discomfort are now gone but what is also often gone is the regularity of any, ummm, urges she used to have....... this is pretty disquieting to many guys who think they will get their old girlfriend (now wife) back as she was before but although they still have the mainframe, some of the programs have been wiped out..  However, what you have is someone who now runs on a much more even keel and for many guys that is enough.

Menopause is a strange critter as it affects women in different ways.  Younger women who experience Menopause earlier on retain some youthful 'urges'.  When it hits later in life, that particular 'urge' usually walks out the door after 'Aunt Flo' has left for the last time and your former lover and wife usually ends up being your best friend and partner, and for many guys that is more than OK.

The Archie Bunker 'thing' sort of goes along with what huntswithdogs posted - he didn't see her again until the swelling went down.....

And I hate to sound like a 'softy' but that is about exactly what you need to become to help her see this through.  You must remember that women experiencing Menopause develop incredible memories and any little cruelty or cruel statement you make will come back to haunt you.  It may take two or three years but she will say to you, at the least most opportune moment - 'Honey, do you remember what you said to me 2 yars ago when I was hot flashing??????'  Well, right then you know you're a dead man on accounta you have no idea what she is talking about but you know she has you boxed up tight...............

Oh yeah, attitagain has a good point but he is off just a bit....all those books the doctors tell Menopausal wives about - they ain't for the wives, they are for us to read.  The wives already know what is going on while we don't have a clue as to either what it is or how to deal with it or avoid dealing with it.

The best advice I can give is to be forwarned, as that is to be forearmed and if you are armed with the best intelligence you can get you are usually way ahead of the onslaught of the emotional upheavals and physical changes and you will be able to figure out the best way to deal with them.

A wise man would go to the library now and read all those books on Menopause - there must be half a zillion of them out there but it is easy to find the top four - they are not large books, more along the slim lines of a 'Clinton's Laws of Ethics', but they are quite informational.  A man not quite so wise may not make it out of the house alive............
