Pretty sure they ceased production on that baby.

That sweet handling, light weight, short throw, brush thumping baby.  ;)

Ruger canceled production of both the 96/44 (lever action .44 Mag)) and the 99/44 (Deerfield, semi-auto) about three and two years ago respectively.

thinking i'ed like to have the deerfield.... but the levers sing to me also...

I bought one for my daughter to hunt with she decided she didn't want to hunt anymore so I used it this year it's a fun gun to shoot and hunt with got a nice meat doe at probably 50 yrds with it this year. In and out both sides of the lungs with a 240 gr hp, I really like the short stroke on the lever and the light handling gun. I do wish the but pad was a normal one instead of the plastic one, I may change this in the future, It taps your shoulder pretty good with 300 gr bullets this is supose to be the bullet the gun was built for 1 in 20 twist to stabalize the heavy bullets.
