Milsurp. Brass a thing of the PAST ?
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:20:29 AM »
Just in case you haven't heard. There IS a larger Agenda for the OBAMA administration.
The sales of Milsurp brass is stopped to the public. It must be destroyed before it is sold as scrap. Here is a notice from a large distributor:

Subject: Important Notice to Scrap Metal Buyers!

http://www.govliquidation.com

Dear Valued Customer:

Please take a moment to note important changes set forth by the Defense Logistics Agency:

Recently it has been determined that fired munitions of all calibers, shapes and sizes have been designated to be Demil code B. As a result and in conjunction with DLA's current Demil code B policy, this notice will serve as official notification which requires Scrap Venture (SV) to implement mutilation as a condition of sale for all sales of fired munitions effective immediately. This notice also requires SV to immediately cease delivery of any fired munitions that have been recently sold or on active term contracts, unless the material has been mutilated prior to sale or SV personnel can attest to the mutilation after delivery. A certificate of destruction is required in either case.

Thank you,

DOD Surplus

I heard on the radio the other day that DOD retracted this and DOD will continue selling the brass.

The DOD has rescinded the mutilation before selling order. Jeff Bartlett (GI brass) when this first started had put a hold on all orders until things got settled. The notice is no longer up on his website. Seems they stood to loose a lot of money as well as put a lot of business's out which translated to a huge ripple effect. More folks seeking unemployment. Not exactly the "change" someone had in mind. Frank
