My new .17 HMR
« on: March 16, 2009, 07:55:07 AM »
Well I've been trying to decide on what to buy to keep in my pickup.  I finally broke down and bought a Savage 93 .17HMR.  It's pretty light and really well balance, and has the accutrigger, which is awesome!  Should be a shooter!

I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

Nice little rifle. My youngest son has the stainless, heavy barrel, thumbhole model. He got it for the same reason as you did, to use as a truck gun. I've yet to shoot it, but I can see myself borrowing that little gem a few times in the near future, when it starts warming up around here.  ;)

I bought one of the GVXP package 93's a little over 2 years ago.  Some guys reported amazing accuracy with their 93's, but mine isn't quite as good.  It is incredibly consistant at 1.25" @ 100yds for 5 shots every time.  I was hoping for better, but I'm not really concerned.  It is minute of squirrel to as far as you can see them in the woods, and for $250 total who can really complain?

I do also own a Savage MkII that is a laser (well at least as much as a laser can look like firing subsonic ammo).

I hope that you enjoy your HMR.
