Cabelas has the 405gr Rem for $32 a hundred or $155 for 500, both are in stock. To give you an idea how much these have gone up, I bought 500 from them 3yrs ago, they were $82 SHIPPED!!  :-\

I switched over to lead in the .458...  Was using the 350 grn hornady rn for a bit, they were pretty cheap if I do remember correctly.

 I agree with previous posters, the REMINGTON bullets are a great bargain if you want a jacketed bullet. You can buy precast lead slugs from a number of sources and they will offer a good savings over jacketed bullets. But true "economy" will only come with home cast lead bullets. But, then of coarse the initial cost of the equipment to cast the bullets needs to be overcome....
In the end, only you can tell if it will be bast for your own situation.

i  liked the idea  of a 500 grain bullet  ...at  first

then got to thinking
405  over  the 500 grain  would be a 20% savings in  lead
also
405 grain  is  the traditional weight
405 = more velocity
405 = less recoil
405 will stabilize  at lower velocity
405  is  still  a big bullet

405grains??   why  do  they always  add  that extra 5 grains?????
