President's Plan to alienate the Military
« on: March 16, 2009, 08:52:11 PM »
Obama wants wounded vets to get their own insurance to cover their treatment so he can raise $540 million. http://news.yahoo.com/s/usnw/20090316/pl_usnw/the_american_legion_strongly_opposed_to_president_s_plan_to_charge_wounded_heroes_for_treatment

- Proposed mandatory enrollment in federal TSP for 3% of income of all service members, no matching funds like they do for civilians (white house), to underwrite an anti-smoking campaign.
- Reenlistment Bonuses were dropped last Tuesday - no more $ in spending package.
- Recruiting was already down, retention was already down.
- DOD told to kill 12 major programs to save $. So far a Carrier Group/Wing are on the chopping block. Will affect over 10,000 families on that program alone. Other programs include all the support programs developed to assist wounded warriors, families, PTSD, TBI, etc.
- Promises for more dwell in between deployments will not be supportable under new "strategies." My last unit has been 7mo. out, 7 mo. back for 4 combat tours to OEF/OIF, and 3 of the 7 back are off island for workup training so no family time.
- Early withdrawal from Iraq = another war we're not allowed to win.
- Imposed limitations in Afghanistan = yet another war we're not allowed to win.

Despite what the liberals say, most of us are educated, do read and pay attention to the news, and recognize the direction things are going.

But will there be enough of us to do anything about it? We couldn't do anything to stop it in the election. What about now?

That is just pure Bull$hit of the highest order. It clearly demonstrates were BO rates our Military and Veterans. It's no surprise that recruiting levels are down. Before long our entire military is going to consist mostly of contractors at a much higher cost than giving volunteers a little incentive to join up. I suppose the next step will be a mandatory draft.

The bottom line is still that Freedom is a privilege and is not ever to be taken for granted.

You would think that this administration would consider this to be elementery but they appear to have lost all sight.

The Dems had already began this process in my area when they shut down the national guards 183 fighter wing which was based in Springfield IL within the last 1-1/2years.

It is not until they feel threatened on a personnal level that they will take action by either hiring armed body guards or even "carrying" themselves as more than one Liberal, anti-gun Judge has been known to do.

They are obligated to protect the Country though, or are they?

I would have to agree with Skunk. It could be that all of the fat will be squeezed from the Military until a mandatory draft becomes necessary. In the mean time, the older guys like me will be doing mandatory community service.

I dont know how long it would take, 5yrs? 10yrs? 20yrs? but eventually the US would be considered to be ripe for the taking by another country or countries.

Obamanation hung out with domestic terrorists. They are getting rid of the term enemy combatant and he's going to put the gitmo criminals into our civilian prisions. They will be found innocent in civilian criminal court because the military cannot build a case agaonst them like CSI on the Iraq & Afgan battle fields. So the evedance will not stand in civilian court.  These criminals will be let out on our streets. What makes anyone think obmamanation would support veterans. He could care less about this country. He only cares about himself and his desires to continue implementing the coup take over of our government.

Well said Gamehauler!

The NIC wants to weaken the military which is filled with centrist to conservative ranks, and then he will install a group of faciest leftists in a civilian security force.

Just the latest round in something that has been going on long before he was elected anywere. I was promised free medical care for life for the entire time i was in the military, It was something discussed in every reenlistment talk i heard or gave. After I retired i got a letter that said" about that free medical care we promised die before wendsday or we lied to you" not really the exact words but that was what it said. When it was questioned by the fleet reserve and other military support groups the reply was "congress never authorized that policy" even the ex military members of congress held that line. If any other company in america had promised generations of employes a benefit by all members of the organization then pulled this they would be put out of business. For those of you who may have served under me i apoligize for lying to you.

Thank you to all those who wrote their elected officials, or participate in any of the veteran's groups who cried foul and drew this to a stop. I just wrote a Democratic Senator and thanked him for doing the right thing - even a broke clock is right twice a day.

You guys miss the point. The vets are collateral damage. The reason he wantas to do this is to export it to private insurance companies, who usually will not cover existing conditions. This would be the setup for GOVERNMENT, read socialized health care

Well good. I'm happy for our Vets, although they should have never been subjected to this scandal in the first place. It's also nice to see that public outrage sometimes gets things changed for the better.

NO that is WRONG!

Freedom is a GOD given right of all men. Those who believe otherwise are the cause of the loss of freedom. Those in charge in governments all over would love you to believe it's merely a priviledge they can grant or take back at will but it is not.

The only way freedom is lost is by free men not being willing to stand and fight to keep it when folks try to take it from them. If you aren't willing to die to remain free then you don't deserve freedom.
