Ok, now that this forum has been going for sometime. I'm curious,as to everybody's favorite.
I hate asking questions I have a hard time answering myself.

Well, not including my own, I guess it's the 358-348 Imp, 416 & 450 Alaskan, 416 Howell, and 470 Mbogo.
The first three, for the severe lever lover, the Howell for the proper use of a Mauser or Pre-64, and the Mbogo for the "ultimate" shootable big-bore.
I really like the 6.5-284, but I guess that's no longer a wildcat.

Hard question because I have so many wildcats now and like them all..... Guess I'll go with the 17 Ackley Hornet, 6X47 and the 375JDJ.

Yepper's, been there, done that too with questions. Picked the three I listed I guess because they see the most use out of my wildcats. Have 3 17AH's now and they do the lion's share of the digger's I shoot (along with the 3 17 Hummer's that is). My calling rig is a 6X47 Stealth (my name for it - if you saw it you'd understand), but the one I go out to shoot - just to have fun and scare the bejesus out of everyone with is the 375JDJ (have 2 of them).

At Digger Wars this spring (Belding Ground Squirrels in northern Nevada), we all decided to make it a "17" shoot - Hummers, CCM's, Squirrels, AH's, AB's, Mach 4's, etc. Eventually I drug out the 375 though and told the guys to line me up a double for it. They picked a mound with about 4 of this years little one's clustered on it - way out there. I laid one in off-hand, and after the thunder stopped echoing off the mountains and the dust cleared, we all walked out. Dang guys wouldn't give me a confirmed Quad, Triple or even a Double hit because all we found was a bunch of wet spots! With that 338-6 I know you know exactly what I mean. :wink:

I picked up a 356 Winchester rebarrel, and it has a few quirks. Yup I know the Contender isn't supposed to be chambered in this cartridge, but I use slightly reduced 358 JDJ data, and I sure like it. 358 JDJ with 235 gr bullets is using 52.0 grs of 2520. I can't stuff that much in the 356. I can fit 50.0, but I have been using 48.0 and it is plenty for my needs. It will certainly knock a deer on its ass. Plus, the 356...or 358 JDJ/Bellm can be loaded with 357 pistol bullets and is a 'bat out of hell' for coyotes or Terrorists. I like to think of it as a 357 mag on steroids.

300 Whisper! By far. It is one of the most versital cartridges out there. It can be loaded for subsonic shooting with a can without being seen / heard, or pumped up to about the same as a 7.62x39mm rnd. (AK47) You can use everything from 125 grn to 240 grn bullets in every style you can think of, and it can be had in a bolt action, AR15 / M16 upper, or T/C contender barrel. (all are very accurate) Very impresive unit. The other Whisper's are also very nice, not quite as versital as the 300, but real nice.

I have not had my gun built yet,but I have always wanted a .375 caliber.Lately I had bought a prewar 98 Mauser large ring and thought this is a good time to start...So I started asking questions,learning some different aspects of what I can do with this project.I have finally settled on a .375/06 Ackley Improved 40 degree-with a 26" barrel.Figure I'll stock it in classic style,walnut with little figure for strenth and put a recoil pad on it.Probably I'll use just a Lyman #378674 in it,I have a thing for cast bullets you know.Since this is a wildcat question,I can't say my favorite is the .30/06;so I do believe this is a good candidate for my favorite wildcat to come...I'll try to keep you posted on this,Jeff.

In my favorite gunshop, I found a 788 Rem. action with a Douglas 22 BR barrel bedded in a composite stock. It has a Canjar trigger. It came with the dies and about 400 pieces of brass formed from the 6 BR. It is easy to load and shoots about 1/2 moa. The only drawback is poor ejection caused by the stubby cases. A great little rifle.

My favorite is an 8mm-06 Imp carbine on a matching number WWII Mauser that I found in a gun shop on Long Island in NY. It came with a Lyman receiver sight, a set of CH dies and a box of handloads (which I would never fire) for a measly $175. Unreal!

The guy who made it set a little compass into the base of the grip - real cute little detail. I had it drilled and tapped, the bolt handle replaced and mounted a 1.5-4.5 B & L Scopechief on it.

It's a slim, trim, light-weight little thing that speaks with authority on both ends.

What's a 470 Mbogo? Sounds interesting. Please describe.

Ditto for jdt48653 on the 264 Thor. Is that a blown out 219 Thor - based on the .357 magnum case?

470 Mbogo is a 416 Rigby necked up for .475" bullets, and will send a 400g out at 2500 fps under "old-world" pressure levels.
If you like the idea of a 450 Rigby, you'll like this.
Really easy rebarrel for a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby.

My own, a pre-400 Cor-Bon I designed in 1978. I called it the 40 Michaels or the 40/45 Autoloader. Makes the coat-tail stepchild 400 Cor-Bon look like the wuzzy it is. Mikey.

My favorite has to be divided into rifle and pistol.
The pistol round is a 40 caliber magnum that I came up with in the early 70's. It's a 30/30 cut to 1.5 inches trimmed, sized and loaded. It beat the others available at the time hands down.
The rifle round is the 6mm/30. A simple neck down from 30 caliber to 6mm - same shoulder angle. I get just over 3000 fps with a Sierra 85 grain bullet that prints 1/4 MOA groups to 200 yards.

411-240 Sako Hand Gun. Shoots a 300 gr. Hawk RN at 2100 out of a 14 1/2 inch barrel.

416- 40-90 Sharps in a Ruger #1, it is basically a 375 H&H, but with a bigger hole.

Glad to see Hornady come out with some .405 300 grainers! Not many cheap [less expensive] bullets for the .411.

My favorite caliber is usually the one I happen to be useing at the time. Right now thats a 25 Supor,great little round,hits hard at long range,light recoil,easy to load.

Guess it must be my turn, I think my favorite wildcat would be the 280
AI also. It seems to do the job if i do my part. Next would be the 25-30-40
AI in a bolt action rifle, Good for deer and antelope at long range.
