Primers

Has anyone heard about both Remington and Federal shutting down their primer production facilities?  I'm not sure if it is true but I stocked up yesterday just in case.

Sounds like another load of crap from the rumor mill to me.  Primers are scarce because everyone is stocking up like mad.  If I were a betting man, I'd say there will be more available soon.  It wouldn't make sense for anyone to stop making primers at a whopping $35+ per 1000.  If anything, they're busy clearing out the back room to make space for another assembly line.

Actually pretty much all makers are working over time and are trying to add new production capability.

 This is the same thing I have herd. I will also add this is the case for MOST reloading materials. It's supply and demand. Currently, demand has expanded way beyond the capacity of these companies to produce the products. Its uneasiness with the political climate, VERY similar thing happened when Clinton took office. It will level out....

I guess I should define stocked up.  When the Democrat choices were between BO and Hillary I began to reload every casing I had on hand.  I also bought an extra 1,000 each of .223 and .308 and loaded those.  After reloading everything I still had an old freezer full of powder and 8,000 primers.  I bought another 10,000 primers just to be sure I can still shoot every week and not run out.
