They make it easy here in lala land of Kalifornia. We have 3 trash cans.

1. for regular trash
2. for recycle stuff...paper, bottles, cans, plastic
3. for yard waist.. grass clipings, etc.

The first can is only 30 gallon size. #2 & 3 are like I think 80 gallon size. So due to the size of the can #1, it forces you to use the other 2. And, the garbage guys better not find you violating the rules on what goes in these cans. They are the trash nazi's and their not nice.

What can I say...thats Kalifornia for ya.

I have used it as plant bedding in the garden. Surrounding a tomato plant with the shredded paper, adding water one time,to keep it in place. This reduces weed growth and increases ground moisture throughout the summer.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I'm not kidding. I got a notice last year. The garbage man tapes it to the trash can and he puts the junk back in the can. Its like a warning ticket. Too stupid to beleive, I know.

They don't check all the time just once in a while.

This is what you guys are all going to get soon. The government checking your trash cans. Cause you know what they say....so goes Kalifornia...so goes the nation. Its only a matter of time.

One of my daughters lives in New Jersey and I went to visit. I got up early the next morning abd decioded to help her out by taking out the garbage. I stuffed it all into two cans. About 10 A.M. the garbage truck pu;leed up they guys got off and started looking into the cans placing then down without empting. and drove off. About 30 minutes late a city car pulled up and if was a guy that enforced the city codes and he came up and asked if I owned the house I trold him no and got my daughter outside to talk to him. He wrote her a ticket for not seperating the cans  from plastics and so on.

It cost her $110.00 and she had to lay off work for a day to appear in court.

She has not forgiven me yet. LOL I did not know they even had such rules anywhere.

C4,

The shredded paper stays in place after one application of water. I have compared vegtables side by side, some with the paper and some without. There is a noteable increase in the growth of the plants with the paper bedding. We also use it for bedding for my daughters pet hamster.

You must shred a whole lot of paper if you put it under your maters and are still looking for things to do with it. I would paper my whole garden with it. I do that with grass clippings if I can get enough. Once I get the whole garden covered things are a lot nicer, the weeds don't pop up nearly so fast, the plants are growing better, and I quit tracking mud in the house.

I don't know if it's still true or not but colored ink used to have lead in it so you didn't want to put that on your garden. Black ink is OK
