new polymer frame revolver
« on: March 21, 2009, 03:18:56 PM »
Was reading an article about a new Ruger .38 Spl. Polymer frame revolver.
Butt ugly  but looks light as a feather. I might have to try one of these.
Any of you gotten your hands on one yet? It's called the LCR and was
supposed to be available at the first of this month

Nope, haven't seen one in the stores yet but it looks interesting.  Read a review on a preproduction model somewhere on the web and the reveiwer said it had a sweet trigger, better than any other DA revolver he had ever handled.  I'm hoping that Ruger comes out with a six shot version in .32 Federal Magnum.   Now that would be a real sweet carry piece.

I think one thing that must be remembered with these ultra-light revolvers is the same sort of cautionary note that first came with the titanium S&W 38s and that was that the use of reloads could jam the cylinder as the light weight of the revolver might cause reloaded cast bullets to 'walk' forward out of the case upon recoil.

The first articles on that lightweight revolver advised the use of non +Ps or reloads.  I never had the experience of 'walking slugs' in the titanium S&Ws but wonder if a revolver at only 12 ounces might not prompt the caution to crimp your reloads well if you intend to shoot them in a lightwight revolver.  jmtcw.
