New Sportsters
« on: March 22, 2009, 02:55:34 AM »
I went to the dealer in Pensacola yesterday.  They had a XR-1200 and the new 883 Iron on the floor.  The Iron was very attractive.  I'd like to ride the XR-1200, but I don't think I'd buy one.

My buddy bought a new sporty 883 and was very happy with it. They had a program where they would give you the full purchase price on a trade in for a bigger bike within a certain time frame. This was a few years ago, I don't know if they still do that.

I had a '79 sportster that had a lot of work done on the motor. I really miss that bike. Though I'm a lot bigger now and I would look like a gorrilla on a football.

I believe the full price trade in deal ends March 31st.

The new Sportsters are fuel injected.  I didn't think I'd like it, but I do.  Mine starts and runs like a top no matter the weather.  Remap isn't needed for pipes normally, but pipes and free flow air filter will require a remap.  The injectors are noisy and you can't set the idle as low as you'd like to.

My '98 ultraclassic is the first fuel injected bike I have owned. I like not having to play with the choke.

My carbeurated '90 flhs is a lot more responsive when you twist the throttle but is harder starting.
