??? Hmmm....  Don't know about them either, but I've a KA-1102 on order.   It's just a step down from the 03 you're inquiring about. :)       Want to tinker around with Short Wave Receivers, and not knowing anything about them I'm starting with a low end receiver and will attach a long antenna to it. ;D  Just for kicks. :D 8)

Hey ms; just got the new 2009 25th edition of the Short Wave Guide "Passport to World Band Radio".
It lists a review on all the Compact Portables.  The KA1103's summary rates it 2 out of 5.  Ergonomics is their main culpret as being 'User Unfriendly'.   Other than that it is a solid and versatile performer.

The KA1102 is their Choice of these small portables.  Rated 3;that is the highest score given of the 18 portable radios they reviewed.  Only two others met that score. Sony's ICF-SW7600GR and Eton's Grundig G5.  But both of those retail right at the $150 price tag.

Hey ms:
Got my KA 1102 a week ago.   Kinda bewildering and I had so much else going on at the time it just sat on the end table until last night.

One thing that gets complaints is the backlight.  People reviewing it says it won't stay on, but they don't read the entire instructions of it.   For the backlike to stay on, it has to be operating on batteries ~~~~ !!!!   Then shut the power off.  The backlite comes on.  While it is still on, plug in the AC Adaptor, and walah!! You've got continuous light.

Anyway have you decided on anything yet?
