Pardner Pump/ Excel Accessory Barrels
« on: March 23, 2009, 11:44:50 AM »
Thought I would start this thread and tell what I know, so far.  I talked with H&R customer service today and was told that I needed to call Marlin about accessory barrels for the PP and Excel.

My purpose for calling was to find out if it was necessary to send in my PP in order to get a Protector barrel for it.  That question remains un-answered as I didn't get to call them today, but plan to in the next day or so.  More info to follow when I have it.
Just didn't seem right, when RackWrangler posted that he had to send his in for a barrel.

That's puzzling, RR lists the slug barrels but no smoothies. ???

I asked about it, they don't require fitting, but you must go thru Marlin service to get one just as you would for a repair of the imported shotguns.  :-\

YEP, that's what they told me.  He said he didn't know why they still listed those barrels on the H&R accessory barrel page, but that you had to go thru Marlin.  I'm gonna try to call them today and get more info.  I have a PP and would like to get the Protector barrel for it and did not want to send in the whole gun.

I have tried several times in the past 2 days to get through to C/S at Marlin.  Been on hold and then had to hang up, while I was working/drivin' (Yes, I know, that's a NO NO) and have gotten home too late, as I am on Central time, and they have been closed.

Here's the number, if someone else wants to give it a shot.
1-800-544-8892, to see if we need to send in the whole Pardner Pump/Excel to get another barrel.

I'm waiting on clarification on that, I think you can just call( ::)) and order the barrel, but I dunno that for a fact yet.

Thanks, Tim.  I have a fax number that came off the recording.  I may try that some day when I get home earlier and get prices and more details.  Who knows, maybe I can talk em into faxin' me an order form that you can post in the FAQ's for everyone to use.  Thanks for the help.

I'm glad this is getting figured out.  I thought it was really stupid to have to send in my PP to get the 18" barrel, but that is what I was told by the CS person.  I even asked them twice and clarified that it was the Pump not the single shot.  They again said that it had to be sent in.  It was a Rem CS person that I spoke with, so maybe they were just uninformed with the whole switchover thing.

Thanks to Cookie and Quick for doing the leg work to straighten this out.

I thought this was crazy too. I have the pardner pump HD 18.5 smooth barrel. recently, a few buddies of mine got me into trap shooting, and well, as you can imagine, and 18.5 spray and pray smooth bore is not really a good trap gun lol. I wanted to get a 24-28 barrel with screw in chokes for it for the trap and skeet.

I am waiting on Marlin to call me back.

Is there anything you have to do when putting in a new PP 12 gauge barrel? H&R says they have to fit it, I guess head spacing or what ever, but is this needed on anything other then a single s hot?

You were told wrong, they were referring to Pardner single shots, Pardner Pump barrels can be ordered by phone.....if they have them in stock, they're listed near the bottom of the page on the accessory barrel page, be specific when you call, the Pardner and Pardner Pump are two different shotguns.
