Please remember. When going to a cannon event in Florida. Park you van behind the firing line......  :D  :D  :D

Sorry, I didn't get a chance to get many action shots as, I was having too much fun firing the gun.   ;D But, here's a brief one of it firing.

Yeeeoooww!!  There is one warning that Mike and I will pay attention to at all cannon shoots we may attend in the State of Florida, especially those shoots at the Hernando Sportsman's Club!   Nice photos.  Did the Captain take those pics, or did you?  One of these years we are going to make that shoot; please continue to post those announcements.  Did your gun make any of those holes?  What caliber is it?

Regards,

Tracy and Kunze
Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

M&T,

I took the "damage" photos. Mrs. intoodeep did some of the video. I did do a bit of damage with the Mt. Howitzer. I would say we actually "puched it" a few times.  The dent behind the door is mine as, is the dent on the lower drivers door. I also put one into the bumper. See below.

Most of the holes were done with a Conf. Mtn. rifle. and Dom's 75. So, those holes are 2.25" and 1.75"

The Mt. Howitzer is full scale with a 4.62 bore. We were shooting a plastic compound ball that was 4.5". Our PVC projectiles didn't fly too well.... Back to the drawing board for those.  ;)

Also, I have to give "DD" credit as I did this without sights using his sighting method.

Wow, that's good stuff there. Makes me want to go to my friend's junk yard and shoot up some old junkers. Except, I'll have to use rifles and sidearms. Looks like a lot of fun could be had with a cannon. Thanks for sharing the pictures and video.

depending on the area it may be an old Marrel pit from mining shells for road construction.

More fun than shooting paper, that's for sure.

Who donated the van? Didn't look in bad enough shape to kill. Remember what Mom would have said, "Don't waste that... There are starving children in Africa who need a ride!"  ;D

What kind of loads were you using in the French 75?

The gun club supplied the van. They have a deal with a local car dealer to get them cheap. They normal do not run (blown motor or trans). When they are done it's of to the recycler. (not much salvage left) :D  :D

As, for the 75. It was not ours but, I may be able to find out what load he was using.

Intoodeep, you should be ashamed of yourself, taking part in such wanton destruction; ;) wish I'd been there to hear the sounds that went along with the sights. ;)
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.
