Good News 357 Max
« on: March 25, 2009, 11:38:17 AM »
I had ordered some 357 Max Brass from Midway. It was back ordered but I got a email from them today that said they got them in and they have been shipped to me. I guess in a couple days I will know for sure. ;D Maybe I better quick order another 100.

That's good news! :) Now if the companies that make primers can get off their duffs
and start making them available to everyone everywhere in large numbers then
we will all be happy! >:(

Nothing like kicking people when they are down!
Something to keep in mind the next time they have something you're ready to buy, you might even drop them a kind letter explaining what you were going to buy it until you remembered how they had gouged people on the price of primers ;)

They might be doing us a favor by charging those high prices.

Think about it like this, if the horders see the price go up they will stop hording, and then the primers will then stay on the shelves, and then the only way they'll get rid of them is to lower the price.

It could work in our favor with the higher prices, eventually as long as people slow down on their panic buying for a while.
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

Or they could think that the price will keep going up and buy them anyway.  That is what feeds panic buying.  But yes, remember those companies that did not ream us and buy from them in the future.

I don't know how frequently everyone is going to be shooting their max, but I hope to get about 10 firings from each piece of brass, and maybe more.  100 will last me a really long time, years, and potentially a decade.  I do not have any fear that within that time, I will be able to buy more brass.  I think this latest distribution hiccup, was just that - a gap between production run starting and the sale of the previous production run.  It may happen again, but I don't think it is reason to fear that we will see the last production run.

So, if I were to be shooting this round 500 times a year, maybe I would be buying more for the heck of it.  Much less than that, no reason to panic buy.

I bought 1k. In theory I can always sell it for the $.24 per case that I have in it. It is a fearful time to buy ammo.
