Savage pre fit barrels
« on: September 06, 2003, 12:02:32 PM »
Besides Pac-Nor and Midway, does anybody have any suggestions as to who makes nice pre-fit Savage rifle barrels? I'm thinking my .223 would like to be a 7 TCU for silhouette shooting with cast bullets.

I'm dying to try the Pac-Nor in .17 Rem, myself. I have too many .223s and too many close neighbors.

I'd shy away from Midway's tubes but take that with a grain of salt - I'm one of those PITA target shooters who nitpick everything. :D

I ordered a Sharpshooter Supply one in 6.5x284.  All I can say is that I got it. They didn't answer all my questions in my email.
If they are really out to sell me anymore barrels, they failed.  Probably too busy for a little old gunsmith.  I'm still looking for a good one.  Sure would save time if the barrels would shoot accurately.  Can't give away Savages to these locals but I like 'em.
