25-35 or 25 Remington.

Ive reallygot a burning desire for a handi in either one of these calibers. Thinking a rebore and chamber on a 223 ultra light would be perfect,cause of the barrel profile. Any input from the folks who know more than I?

Probably the easiest would be a stub job with a 25 cal barrel.  I have a reamer for 25-35 and it looks like it would be a very nice round for a Handi, and ejectors for the 30-30 are easy to get.  Larry

Just did a search, Marv's (Datil) 25-35 was done on a 233 Superlight by GBO sponsor Wayne York, getrdone, it'll cost about $300 plus the donor barrel.

Consider  the 250 savage a very good cartridge for many years, plus it uses the very popular .473 rim size ,nice ballistics, lots of load data, and most of all it is a great fund gun to shoot.

Your right, the 250 Savage is another great caliber, but lacks the allure and age as well as the rim of the 25-35.

A nice trim 250 in a light weight short bolt gun would be a beautiful whitetail harvester to be sure.

At risk of losing my longest lurker(least post)status, methinks a reline would be cheapest in the ,25-35 or 25 rem...30-30 has the right extractor for the 25-36marlin or 25-35 win.   one of those ole profiled 158 30-30's and a rifled liner, some 'poxy or solder and a reamer, a dremel, drill bit, drill bit extension.
 Sorta like the ole days automotive wise....A coil..a little oil... a 2"board an ya got yerself a ford..;-)

I have a ruger International in 250 Savage. Ain't much on Rugers but I like this one

250 Savage introduced 1912
