Winchester white box is decent ammo. Bout as cheap as it gets now days. Based on availability locally, I'd say you were lucky to find it. Thank God I reload!

It's not too bad.  I shot some today out of my Glock 24C and it shot pretty darn well.  It's loaded somewhat light, so recoil is nice and easy.

Its hard to find anything in this caliber for defensive use.  How would this winchester fmj work for this purpose?

Be careful with that stuff, I had a squib load last summer that blew up a barrel on my CZ-75 in .40 S/W.  Winchester and I settled on the manner with a factory repair.  If it sounds funny after a shot, stop, check for a plugged barrel, because it is easier to replace, drill out, etc. the jamed bore than to have a squib load.

I no longer buy Winchester ammo.

That goes for ANY ammo! Squibs are always a possibility. I have never had one with factory ammo. Of course, I don't shoot near as much factory stuff as reloads.

I sure wouldn't use cheap Ammo as a Defence load. How much is your life worth?

Try some Winchester Supreme 165gr hollow points, they shot to the same point of impact as the
155gr hollow point white box Winchesters...

Yep everyone knows if a carry round doesn't cost at least $2.50 a pop it's pretty much useless! ::)

FMJ wouldn't be my first choice, but neither would the mega dollar ones.
If it was all I could find, I'd sure use it. It's worked pretty well for the armies of the world since-------------well, since the invention of gunpowder.

Actually gunpowder was invented about 1,000 years ago, we believe in China...

It took a couple of hundred years for the first crude guns to make the scene and the most common projectile until after the Civil War was a lead round ball...

Pretty close. The first projectiles were rocks or what ever they could poke down the tube. Although in the late 1800s, ways were found to make a fmj bullet more effective (Moving the center of gravity rearward/Jacket thickness ect) there are still no large scale usage of hollow points to my knowledge, in use in the world's military forces. I wasn't arguing that hollow points were not normally  more effective than fmj. Just that anything that puts a hole in your opponent is better than nothing.
I'd go one step further, and say that in many instances the non premium  hollow points work about as well as the uber expensive ones. There are no magic bullets. There are insanely expensive ones.

You might want to consider the flash from the muzzle, and pick the one that doesn't hamper your successive shots.  That is why I picked Federals for my .45 home defense weapon.  Some of the choices were blinding if you shot them in the dark.

I use Speer Gold Dot and Pow'RBall ammo in my carry weapon, I practice with what I can find available, which hasn't been much lately. If it came down to I had nothing but the cheap stuff, sure that's what I would have to carry. I have seen misfires and Jam ups with some of this so called good cheap ammo with cheaper guns, but not in my Glock. LOL

I would shoot the heck out of it, (and have), for practice ammo. Howver, I cannot imagine staking my life, or that of my family on it. Blast up the cheap stuff, and stoke up your mags with some quality, expanding ammo from a reputable maker for defense. Buy at least two boxes, and make sure that your pistol functions reliablly (not difficult with a Glock).  Then run as many defensive rounds through it as you can afford. load up, and you are alright.

It isn't very accurate in my 9's or 45's but can be surprising.
In my USP .45 the 230 grain white box h.p. exapnds beautifully and is super acurate.
