In Illinois (sigh) about 40 mi. south of Chicago. Still farm country here, but the burbs keep marching south.

GB you just got to rub it in huh? ;) ;D Our Weeping Willow tree is getting leaves now. Every year it is the first to get leaves and the last to loose them. We got Tulips and other flowers comming up now. The other trees have buds and in a few weeks will bloom. We started our plants for the garden about a month and a half ago and most would be ready to plant outdoors now if the weather would warm up and the danger of frost passes. Dale

If that's your yard. It looks great. Looks like you and the wife spend a lot of time landscaping. Dale

Did you build the well in the back ground? Oh I forgot to mention. I planted my onion sets last week. Dale

Yes to both. I build the wishing well and that is our front yard in both photos both taken today. Here is another showing our swing in front of the sweetgum flower garden and off in the distance you can see Faye's concrete bench beneath the big plum tree. I'm sure we have a half acre or more in flower gardens.

Great job then. How is that Jappense Maple working for you? I have wanted to plant one for a few years but they are expensive and grow slow from what I understand. Dale

Hopefully this will give a bit better view of the wishing well.

We have three of the red leafed Japanese maples. There is one in the middle of Faye's iris bed and one in the front center of that daylily bed with the rock wall surrounding it at the front of the front porch just further out from the larger one.

Over the years I've planted perhaps a dozen and these three are all that's left. They don't seem to fare well here.

This photo should show Faye's iris bed which is the 12'x12' bed made of landscaping timbers. If you look closely all three of the jap maples are visible in this photo.
