It opens Apr. 4th here and even if you don't have kids at home, it's a good time to round up a neighborhood stray and introduce them to hunting. You can do your scouting, and if a turkey wants to work you can become a hero by helping a youngster bag their first turkey. I now get more pleasure helping a young hunter be successful than taking one myself. I like to use a pop up blind because it allows movement, videoing and makes it more enjoyable for the first time hunter. If the turkeys don't gobble the crappie are biting and it makes for a good outing.
