Any one have a receipe for home made laundry detergent that I can wash my hunting clothes in?  That means of course that the detergent would be non-scented.

thanks in advance.

I use Pine-Sol or a generic equivalent.

My mother made laundry soap from bacon drippings, which she saved in a lard tin in the freezer. When she had enough for a batch, she cleaned and took the salt out by boiling it in water, then let it cool and solidify, then remove the solid fat from the water.

Any animal fat works, and sometimes, she would used purchased Sno-Cap lard.  This recipe is for homemade granular soap, and very similar to the one she used.

The internet is loaded with easier recipes for gel and granular laundry soaps made from purchased (usually Fels Naptha) bar soaps, Borax, and washing soda.  As you want unsented, just omit  any scented oils they call for.

these two links will give you recipes for a gel type, and a no cook granulated laundry soap.

If you want a Good grease spot remover! Use three equal parts of 1.) water 2.) cheapest shampoo you can find Or dish washing liquid 3.) Ammonia .
I'm a heavy equipment tech and this is what I use to get grease spots out of my jeans. Just soak the spots and wash .

Baking soda works well for hunting clothes.

Thanks guys for all the responses.  I know that somewhere I read a recipe for a detergent for washing hunting clothes that was scent free.  And, I am sure it had baking soda in it.  I have saved all your suggestions, and will continue my quest for the unscented.

Thanks again.

Hello
When hunting in the mountains for a few weeks we had a fast stream with a log across it where we were camped. We used to take our Levi's and tie them to a rope and throw them into the stream and tie the other end to the log.
In about one hour they would be as clean as could be and no scent.
Don't leave them too long or it will wash the bluing out. Clean clothes and no work to speak of.
