Draw Length Ques.

Is there a way to measure your draw length before I go to a Proshop. I have a used bow that I need to get lengthend and dont know if it will be able to go long enough. Just want to save some time.

NewYork, it depends on where they measure from.  From the front of the shooting shelf or from the berger button hole.  But what you can do is get a helper, then draw back an arrow to your anchor point.  When you are at full draw, to your anchor, have them mark the arrow where it bisects the berger button hole and also the front of the shooting shelf.  Then let down and measure the arrow from the string inset on the nock to the marks.  Note, you do not measure from the end of the arrow nock, but rather the string inset of the nock.  Good luck!

I have a couple of ways that i've used that seem to work pretty well.

1st....stand beside a wall and make a fist with your bow arm and put it against the wall, make sure you stand straight and don't lean away from or towards the wall.  Next turn and look at the wall where you have your fist placed and have someone measure from the wall to the corner of your mouth.

2nd....Draw Length can be determined by a measurement known as 'wingspan.' This is simply a measurement and has nothing to do with how you actually draw back your bow. So you first measure your wingspan. Then find this number in the chart below to find your Draw Length.

How to measure your wingspan:

1) Find a wall
2) Move up as close as possible to the wall (with your back against it)
3) Extend your arms and fingers out as far as possible
4) Have someone make a pencil mark at the end of your fingers
5) Measure this distance

This is your wingspan

Now, find your draw length from the chart below ( for example a wing span of 67" would be a draw length of 26")

These methods are good starting points for determining your draw length and should get you within one inch of it and in some instances have been right on the money, they have always worked for me.  Hope this helps.

I would just go to the pro-shop and get measured there. It won't take just a second and it will be right. :-)
