Have any of you ever made Jalapeno Poppers?
« on: March 30, 2009, 01:52:18 PM »
My wife and I love Jalapeno Poppers. The ones with the Chedar cheese in the not the Cream cheese. I asked her is she could make them home made because they are expensive store bought. She said she did not know how. She says she does not know how to keep the Chedar cheese in them. I can't find anything on the net about them so I though I would ask you guys. I also plan on stuffing our Banana Peppers this year with a recipe I found on the net. It sure sounds good and I can't wait for the Banana Peppers to be ready so we can try it. Here is the recipe. If you use long-green or pablano peppers they are bigger and way easier to
stuff, then coat in a mixture of corn meal and flower and fry.

Dale being a life long Texan we have been eating em and making em all my life (59 years). Cut the jalapeno long ways, take out all the seeds, and the light colored RIBBS. If you don't they will cook YOU. Put grated cheddar cheese in them, and then you can close them with a tooth pick and BBQ them, or bake them. If you want you can roll them in a mixture of corn meal and flour and deep fry them.

+1

I like the cream cheese ones. I fill the peppers with it, put a slice of venison or a whoile shrimp (really good) on the pepper, wrap with a peice of bacon, stick a toothpick in it and slap them on the grill. I'm hungry now....

I did some work on a house about 12 years ago and the owner had many habanero plants. He gave about 20 of those red habanero peppers. He said they were the hottest pepper there was and bet me $20.00 if I could eat 5 of them seeds and all. Then not drink or eat anything for 20 minutes. I figured why not. A few months eariler I won a bet with the guys from work that I could not drink a half bottle of that Insanity Sauce. That was about the longest 20 minutes of my life.  :o :o :o :o Dale

Well Dale, when you feel the need to abuse your butt in such a way, you should buy either a bag of ice, or a gallon of ice cream. Next morning after your constitutional, you can SIT IN A BOWL OF EITHER. ;)

Kind of off topic here but everyone is talking about hot peppers, you should look in the Humor and off topic section and read the story about Frank the chili taster. Just a little humor about spicy foods.

Dale, I take and gut my Jalapeno's then I stuff them with whatever cheese I want. Now after that is done you mix up egg and milk then a breading mixture. Dip them in the milk/egg then in the breading, repeat till breaded as well as you like, put wax paper on a cookie sheet andd lay your poppers seperatly on the wax paper, freaze then drop into the deep fryer frozen.

Thanks. Sounds good but what is the reason for freezing them. Dale

Freazing them holds the breading together. That is the secret trick to making them.
