wait till Chrysler gets purchased by the French company Fiat

Don't think it's going to happen now.

Fiat's asset rating was down graded yesterday morning to JUNK BOND statis which means they don't have the borrowing power now to raise the money required to buy Chrysler.
Even if they could find someone to back them they would have to pay a much higher interest rate on the loan because of their poor rating now.

The LIAR IN THE WHITE HOUSE gave Chrysler 30 days to close the deal with Fiat.
If they could not come to terms then he was prepaired to let Chrysler go under by not giving them anymore bail out money.

If anyone thinks the American unions are cry babies, wait till Chrysler gets purchased by the French company Fiat.

We'll be waiting a heck of a long time for that, since FIAT is an Italian company and not a French one.

I am definitely considering purchasing a GM vehicle -a new Camero, to be precise.

If I don't buy one, it'll be because I've opted for the new R/T Challenger, instead.

But at 30K+ price of admission, both GM and Chrysler will probably go "tits up" before I am ready to buy.

I've gone totally " foreign". A Toyota Tacoma for me, a Toyota Camary for my wife and a Honda outboard for my boat. I'd like a foreign mistress, but can't get my wife to agree on that one.

About half the so called foreign cars are actually made in the US now.  Toyotas in Kentucky and Tennessee, Hondas, Mercedes, Hundai in Alabama.  Kia in Georgia.  Toyota also in Mississippi.  I think Ford has a plant in Atlanta.  Of course, they are not unionised in the southern states with open shop laws.  Alabama also has a Michelin plant in Dothan, Uniroyal (now owned by Michelin) in Opelika, Goodyear in Gadsden, Goodrich (now owned by Michelin) in Tuscaloosa, and I think a Firestone plant in Anniston.  We have lost all of our textile industry, Russell, West Point Stevens, Playtex, Vanity Fair, Leshnier, all have moved overseas.  We are not getting a lot of auto parts suppliers for the foreign assembly plants.  Most of what drove our economy the last 10 year was home building.  Now it is non-existant.  We were building around 500 homes a year around my area the last 10 years, not we are lucky to get 3 a month.  This kept a lot of framers, brick masons, electricians, plumbers, landscapers, painters, sheet rock workers, heating and air condition workers, and cabinet makers busy.

I have owned GM's all my life,or 50yrs of it,now retired it's time to get rid of the big truck and get a small truck,am not sure about staying with GM.Not unhappy with them, but not going to be a fool about it.It is sad about all our goods coming from overseas,my wife just was talking about LL Bean, she always bought from them because it was all U.S. now all they sell is foreign made.

As I said before the current Chevy is my first and will be my last.

Have a Chevy S-10, gets the same mileage as my F-350 dually with camper installed.  12.6 MPG for both, the Ford is a lot more luxurious, and drives much better, but the S-10 is easier to get around town.

Daily drivers are, Wife Mazda RX-8/18 MPG, Son Mitsubishi Eclipse/17 MPG, Me Suzuki Samurai/31 MPG.   The trucks sit till we need to haul something.  The Mazda and Mitsubishi would get better mileage if they did not have such heavy feet, and like to give their performance cars a work out.  I can't say much since I drive the same way when I get into them

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' I love my Chevys. Bought one in December before it was too late.

I did tell the dealer I would pass on the extended warranty it might not be any good.

I don't care about Gm being owned by our government as I never intend to buy another GM product.  I've owned a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and a 2000 GMC and both were complete headaches.  The Olds had three transmissions put in it before the warranty ran out and I could never keep an alternator in it.  It ate one about every year.  The GMC was just gutless and leaked when it would rain. I remember that the weatherstripping around the windows would fall off as I went down the road. The dealership never could fix the problems I had with these vehicles.  I think GM has already burnt their bridge with the crap they have been peddling to the public.  Even if their new vehicles are better now, I doubt many will be willing to take a chance.  I don't hate GM, they made decent vehicles at one time. I had a 78 Chevy pickup that wouldn't die.  It has been my experience that they no longer make a dependable vehicle and there are better makes for less money.  There is a reason Honda and Toyota are kicking everybody's butt in the auto industry.  They put a quality product for the same money as all the others.

It is funny how some people have had nothing but bad luck with one brand and others have had the same brand with virtually
no bad luck at all.

Like my family and GM, virtually no bad luck at all.

Now don't ever ask me about the one and only INTERNATIONAL truck I once owned! >:( :D

Your right about the oddity of brand in cars, and family experiences. I have been a GM man for years. Owned one Ford, and it was ok, but a gas guzzler. I inadvertently switched to Chrysler when I bought my first and always wanted Jeep. Then a Chrysler 300 for the wife. I went back to a Chevy pickup for almost three years but, missed the Jeep. A couple weeks ago, the Chevy left, and another Jeep took it's place. It may well be the last vehicle I every buy for myself. I love those little wagons.

I have owned 3 Fords in my life and had major problems 2 of them. The 3rd was a F150 and I have to say it was not a bad truck. It just lacked the power I needed. Now I have owned many GM'S and had few problems. Dale

O said he was declaring class warfare and this is one of the ways he is doing it. The union workers in detroit are no different than you and I, they are working for a check, same as us. Many of them are second generation, and some are third generation auto workers.

Can't you see what he is trying to do?

-Divide the rich from the poor, white collar from blue collar, union from non-union, black from white......

We need to be united, not hating everyone else because of perceived differences, most here are blue collar workers, some union, some not, but we all have the same goals, no?

I currently drive a 1983 yes 1983 s10 4wd.  It has 243 thou on it and stilll runs like a charm.  I bought it new in 82.  The body is starting to look rough, so, I hve been looking.  Onoe of our big time dealers in the area who's slogan is huge has quite  a few gm products on the lot. Anyway I have been dealing online witht hem over a new 2009 silverado.  It it pretty well loaded and sticker is 32thou more or less. Well it is now down to 17,500 and has 100thou warranty and is brand new. Interest rate 2.4 percent.  Quite honestly I can not see myself turning it down.  I paid over 10 for the s10 back in 82.  If it lasts as long as the s10 has it will well pay for itself.  So to make a long story short, not only would I, within thenext week or two, I probably will.

I've owned a GM vehicle since I was 17.  I found all of them to be reliable and rugged vehicles if I did regular maintenance and didn't put off fixing things that were a result of normal wear and tear.  My current C1500 has 215,000 miles on it with no sign that it might not last another 215,000.

Most of the other "second" cars I've owned were of foreign make such as VW, Toyota,  I've owned a Mercury and a Ford.  Each and every was a disappointment in one way or another.  I also had a Jeep that I liked, but I couldn't afford to maintain it.

I'd buy another GM vehicle if the price, model, and performance were what I need to get the job done.

I haven't run across another make that is nearly as reliable.

Got a '92 F150 and an '83 Civic. I 've had 'em both about five years and have a total of about 6 grand in 'em.  Both run great, don't figure ever to buy another vehicle.  The .gov and the auto unions can go *&%$ each other.   I am so sick of the commies in both I'm ready to puke.

On a happy note, the Obamaniac next door lost his job yesterday.  Whined like a baby to me about it how unfair it was. I just told him that elections have consequences, and that I hoped he'd gotten the change he wanted.
