Alligators in the Rio Grand
« on: March 31, 2009, 05:59:46 AM »
Could this be a secrete plan of Homeland Security?  Naaaa....just Mother Nature doing her job.

I heard about this and thought it was a joke so I looked around and found the link below.  I think we should start a save the alligator program to ensure the numbers in the Rio Grand increase, maybe even an adopt a Rio Grande Alligator program.  I have already decided to adopt one and name it  "coma el mojado atras" (Eat the wet back).  Don't forget, if ever at the Rio Grand and you want to make a wish, don't toss a penny in, toss in a baby alligator and know you are doing your part to help repopulate their numbers and to also help our country. ;D ;D

Crocs are larger than alligators and are even more endangered (North American Crocodiles). They could be a very interesting re-introduction project.

We should augment mother nature and give her a little help.  Gather gators from Louisiana and Florida and move them to the Rio Grande.  People should adopt them and feed them well so they grow big and used to eating lots.  Then when they get big stop feeding them, so they can hunt for their own food.  Being habituated to humans they would not be afraid of them, and seek them out for food.

We have some on the east side of Texas we can relocate on a loan basis! They would not even have to change their State Smileagator License

With the limited seasons that we have had since Katrina and Rita, we have plenty to spare. They came out early this year and there are more gators than I have seen in years. September cant come quick enough. ;D

Speaking of Hurricanes, Hurricane Dolly is the one that brought these predatory reptiles to the Rio Grande.  They will multiply if the Mexicians don't exterminate them.
