Got the bug !
« on: March 31, 2009, 03:15:57 PM »
I have not had this much fun with air guns since i was a kid
The dual caliber Beman I just bought is a blast. I bought several types of pellets
to test accuracy. Daisy flatpoint target pellets win and fortunately
they are the cheapest. Gamo Raptors are the fastest so far and group into about
an inch at 30 yards. not too bad i guess. The 22 barrel shoots much more accurately
than the .177 but i wanted it for the .22 anyway so no problem.
I am working on a big bore air rifle but can't find a barrel I like. I am liking this one though.
Don't own it yet but it is nice. It is a .36 caliber (000 buckshot) roundball shooter.
That gets about 700 fps. It will do until I get my .45 cal. working.

Thanks for sharing about the Beeman combo. I have been eyeing that for a week or so myself and like you want it mostly for the .22. How do you like the scope that came with it? Keep us up to date on how it shoots. Thanks, Charlie

the scope would not stay zeroed that came with it. I tried a couple
more too that would not stay zeroed. Bought a cheap Daisy powerline
3-9x32 and it has functioned flawlessly for about 300 shots so far.
The trigger is smoothing out after about 800 shots just as Beman said it would.
The key to this guns accuracy is tightening the set screw that holds the barrel
in place after every 30 or 40 shots. It does vibrate loose.
The scope that came with the gun was not damaged or anything,
and it is now on one of my .22 LR rifles. Works fine there.
