April 1st, 2009 Good Morning Montana
« on: April 01, 2009, 03:29:32 AM »
Well the snow is flaking, that jokes are already flying on the net.  Yesterday the owner of Spirit Quest Archery handed me my $5.00 range fee back, with a pass for the rest of the year to shoot indoors.  This was getting spendy at $5.00 a day, and so you can imagine that I'm pretty happy about it, when it can run $25.00 a week.

Anyway you all stay safe as our roads are still slick, and as always, the coffee is always on and hot.

Good morning Montanan, dpe, Southpaw, Forster, MT_Sourdough, Atlaw, pab1, newstart2k, Skunk, kitchawan kid, lurker, CJ, Bilmac, thxmrgarand, Syncerus, Mcwoodduck, Brennemanj83, Old Shooter and TY22.

Jon, that's great...He either appreciates you patronage or he's going to hand you a broom to sweep up at the end of the day.  Take the free shooting or take the shooting and the broom.  Either one or both should be good on your shoulder.

Headed to Physical therapy this morning.  I have another week left of therapy.  Man what a difference it has made.

Don't have anything on the agenda today, I'll see if the those women at therapy hurt me or not.  Seems like every every pain they give makes it better the next day.

I have to build a couple of  quills for a cannon test.  I have pretty much got the straw quills down for the larger cannons, but we need something for the smaller guns.

The quill for you none cannon shooters is type fuse that is near instantaneous. The standard green cannon fuse is to slow for safety purposes. You want the gun to fire when conditions are right.

What I am testing are toothpicks coated with some sort of glue and then rolled in 4 Fg black powder.  I am also testing some toothpick quills rolled in fast burning smokeless powder.

Early test are promising with the black powder.  The Smokeless powder results so far are mixed.

South Paw do you have any Bullseye?

Today, I took three kids shooting again.  One of the kids is my girfriend's son's friend Robert.  Today was Robert's first time ever shooting.  So that makes 4 people in 6 months that I have taught how to shoot.  All shots were on paper again.  I think the young man, Tyler, was a little less interested today and I wont push him.  I keep it light heartedand and fun for them.
We saw two groups of Bighorn today.  The Rock Creek herd and three rams in East Missoula.  Yesterday, I saw a doe that had a big scar on her left front shoulder.  It looked like she survived a cat attack.  The pic of the rams in East Missoula is another cell phone pic. Maybe not worth posting, but...
I hope you all had a good day. :D
Gotta git'me a bigger ice box
